The interaction between the sisters was something I enjoyed writing very much. Their relationships expand and contract. In the scene where they first hear of their fathers arrest they seem to be snarling at one another but there is an underlying solidarity.

What drew me to this particular book, was the author (new to me), the promotion and the desire to try something a little bit different.
I don't usually enjoy historical fiction, but I did feel transported to a different time and place with this book. I have never been to Texas, so I also enjoyed getting a "feel for" the area. What I like best in a good novel is character development, and
I really enjoyed getting to know the 3 sisters and the other assorted characters.
