Converting & Uploading to Pipit

I am new at this and am slightly confused about a few things. I would appreciate any help. I published my how to book on Kindle without any issues and hope to do the same here. However, I do have a few questions before making the big leap.

  • Am I using the software "Calibre" to convert my Word docx to epub so I can see what my book looks like in a nook?
  • Or do I upload this converted file created in Calibre to Barnes & Noble to publish?
  • My how to book has a lot of jpg images. So can I just zip my word docx and upload the zip file to Barnes & Noble. This just seems a lot easier to me. Is this acceptable?

Re: Converting & Uploading to Pipit

Well, first of all, there is a size limit for the file you upload to pubit. If your images are too big, you might want to decease their size.

Also, you want to embed your pictures into your .docx as an image.

You can directly upload your docx into pubit as it will convert it into epub. And better yet, save your file as a 97-2003 doc. It tends to play nicer with pubit than docx.

Hope this helps, if not, someone else will surely have the answers you seek :smileywink:

Re: Converting & Uploading to Pipit

The book has to be all one document. I have text and pictures. I put the text, with no headers or footers or page numbers into word. I put the images into MS Paint and saved as PNG. Word likes that image file. JPG may foul up. Where I wanted a picture, I used page break, you may use section break. I inserted the picture and put in another page break. And so on. The images will size down to the page size. My page size has 1" margins. No fancy formatting. I used Word 2003 and saved as .doc. Also, use the section or page break between chapters. You don't need to use any other application to upload to Pubit or Kindle. You don't need to convert the document. Ask questions if you need and good luck. And Melissa had good advice to follow.
