Re: Formatting problems....

Double spacing causes problems. Single is good. I used 1.5 spacing and it was fine. The problem is in your basic Word document. You have formatting that is screwing up the book. You can look at the formatting symbols in the document. Go into Word help and find out how to do that. You will see all the formatting symbols. Another way is to copy the entire document and paste it into Notepad. That will remove all the formatting. Then you can copy that and paste it back into Word. If you do that, you can do the formatting over. I don't know how long the book is, but, if you are really stuck, type it over with a simple format. This is how I learned to print out stuff. I made a hash of the documents over and over. Other places that people upload books have these same problems. Keep asking if you need to.

Re: Formatting problems....

I love the idea of putting it in Notepad. I am working on  my book and it has code that I am manually cleaning up. It is not bad but it is another time through the MS. Next hunk will be using the Notepad trick...

Re: Formatting problems....

It will take out the nasties. An admin tech had suggested it at another site for writers when they were having a hard time uploading their books. It was Authonomy. Uploading there is like a dry run for a heart attack.

Re: Formatting problems....

ArJohn-

But if you use any italics, those will be removed when you paste into notepad. If you have none, then it is a perfect place to clean up your manuscript.

Hope you work it out!

Re: Formatting Question

Just sideloaded Part 1 of my book...... YES!! Looks great. A few minor things but overall -- Love the SIGIL editor. It has all the chapters perfect - each starting a new page -- wonderful.

Now -- What if I want to add, say a separate Forward or Title/Dedication page -- In Front of Chapter One??? Can it be done? Or do I have to re-do the chapters??

By the way you guys have been wonderful and have really made this project Fun!

Re: Formatting Question

ArJohn-

That's great! So happy to know we could help! Yes you can add your dedication/forwards to your existing file. You can just add then to the end and then on left hand side where you see your sections, just grab hold of what you want to move and, well, move it to where you want it.:smileyhappy: It's easy to move them around to where you want them.
