Hmmm...I think that buy saying !Voldemort! the Death Eaters knew exactly where harry, ron and hermione were so quickly after they apparated.

I really don't like the fact that the connection between Harry and Voldey has been reopened. I hope that Voldemort doesn't realize it, because it is quite clear Harry still has no control whatsoever over his mind in this area.

I absolutely love the fact that Hermione had all that stuff in her bag! She's so organized--what would Harry do without her?

Is that really Hermione? When the DEs attack them in the cafe and the kids knock them out, she says they need to modify their memories so that the DEs can't tell anyone where and when they saw HRH. Ron says he's never done a memory charm before, and Hermione says that she hasn't either, but she knows the theory... BUT, Hermione told us back in the Ghoul in Pajamas chapter that she had modified her parents' memories to make them think they were someone else and that they needed to move to Australia.

Is this a mistake or is that not Hermione at Grimmauld Place???

Wow, bravo! I completely forgot about her modifying her parents memory. How could she change theirs so well, to the point they don't even think they have a child, and then say that she has never done such an act but has a theory? I guess I shouldn't have started reading when I was so sleepy! -head bangs on desk.- Must pay attention!

I'm determined not to rush through the book because I want to enjoy my last time reading it for the first time. But yeah, that jumped out at me immediately. I had to flip back a couple of chapters and read it again, because I thought, What about Wendell? Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's one of those mistakes that will be edited out in subsequent editions. If not, though, then I'm really scared for Harry!

Yes, very good catch about the memory charm.

Perhaps the two kinds of memory charms are different... The one on her parents is obviously an alteration of memories of a lifetime, whereas this memory charm is just taking away like 15 minutes of their memories...

Good catch!! I didn't even think about it...I usually catch that stuff when I read them again. You can email the US continuity editor and she will run it by JK and possibly have it changed in later copies. This particular editor was interviewed several days ago and stated that they are open to any inconsistancies that their readers find and they ususally change them. But again perhaps H.G. is being used to spy on Harry...we shall see...

Now thinking about what Hermione said made me wonder if her parents are really where she says they are. Maybe they were killed because Voldemort wants all of the Muggles to die.

Psychee a friend used your idea as well. It may just be me but it would strike me that altering a longer line of memories would be much harder than just erasing memories for a short period of time.

reply I caught that in Chapter nine and I was thinking maybe there is a difference then and enchantment and a charm and I also agree with altering short term versus long term.

I didn't even think about that memory charm thing.
Hermione is my idol. She's amazing. Harry would probably be dead by now if it weren't for his great friends.
Yes, the connection between Harry and Voldemort is making me nervous. Especially because Harry is feeling Voldemort's rage with so much intensity; it's obviously a much stronger connection than Harry being able to read Voldemort's thoughts. It's frightening...

They must be 2 different kinds of charms. I think the charm used in the cafe must be the same of Lockhart in Chamber of Secrets, and the whole modifying the parents memory has to be another kind of charm different from the first. Don't really know it's just my guess.

I don't think her parents are dead, she made the memory thing before the whole kill the muggles broke out, they must be somewhere in Australia.
