P.S.- Narcissa redeamed no one. She helped Harry to get her family back and we see no evidence that she or any of the other Malfoy's helped in the fighting against Bellatrix/Voldemort. I picture the Malfoys going off with their tails between their legs to recover, and then continuing to rely on their money to make it through this world where they are no longer in the best inner circles. Though I do think they would have given up trying for the whole pure-blood "let's take over the world" deal.

Hear, hear! Narcissa's only "redemption" was purely selfish: if Harry hadn't told her that Draco was still alive, she certainly wouldn't have lied to Voldemort and let Harry live. And Ron's comment to his kid of: "Don't go marrying a pureblood!" indeed implied that the Malfoys' blood-status has lessened somewhat.

Like, those two sentences just rushed out feeling generic and empty. I mean, the 7th book was incredible, I wouldn't have wanted it to end any other way. But... when I read those last two lines, I felt like JKR wasn't quite sure how the last few words should read, and she just scribbled those down.

Don't forget, folks...the only time Harry's scar every pained him was when Voldemort was getting ticked. Voldemort is now dead, so of course Harry's scar isn't going to be bothering him.

But that doesn't mean that some other evil couldn't befall our friends in that 19 years, eh? *insert evil laugh here!*

Re: Discuss Chapter 36

Spoiler Warning: If you have not read past Chapter 36, this thread may contain plot spoilers.

snape was so brave. To think that all these years people have been doubting him. I for one knew that if all thoes times he had been trying to save Potter that he was good. I must admit the things he did seemed so unclear to me but I still liked him. I thought that he acted like that because he had a bad childhood, which was made no better by James && Sirius. To think that he was in love with Lily was incredible.

What Voldemort did not know of ended up to be his downfall. Love was the most important thing in this whole book series. Dumbledore is so smart beyond reason, but his downfall was also his ignorance. For not thinking before he put on Slytherin's ring. I understand what was going though his mind as a young man but he should have been braver, like Ron. The locket knew his biggest fears and deepest desires, but he resisted.

Dumbledore says that he knew at once that Harry Potter was the better man. I don't disagree....no wait yes I do.

Snape was the better man in my opinion. He was so great in the forest, and after all this time.

Forgive me for not knowing the young Dumbledore's name, but he was amazing too. Had the glass the whole time, and opened his pub to the students at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter was so bloody brilliant when he was discussing the wand with Voldemort. "Do you dare.." "Yes I dare" (: that was so cool. Harry Potter grew up so much it is so ....unexplainable.

Lupin and Tonks...gone. That was about the most suprising yet expected thing in the book. I knew it, the momment that Lupin named Harry the godfather of young Teddy that it would be James all over again. ='[ it's so sad. I wished that at least one of the guys would have lived.

and Fred, I still can't believe it, why did he have to die? J.K.R is so smart but this was...crazy to say the very least.

at King's Cross the little boy I do believe that it was Voldemort, the soul of him that he killed. Dumbledore says "You can't help him." I think it was the part of Voldemort that lived in Harry all this time. Harry wanted to help it, but couldn't. It looks like he cannot live, nor die, the little demon. Stuck in the "inbetween" forever. Afterall this was in Harry mind was it not.

This was the most amazing book I've read or ever will read. If I grow up to be the best writer ever it won't even come close to comparison, this book got me crying more then I've cried in my live....I could have barley breathed.

Balatrix is dead!!! Thank God! actually thank Molly! (: she was amazing too.

Voldemort cared, that she died....suprising.

Collin, also dead. He first appeared in the 2nd.

I have a question I need answered.

Having discussions with friends is fun and all
but no one seems to understand why the Elder Wand was Draco's to begin with,
now I understand in my mind, but its difficult for me to put it into words.

I believe that Draco was the master of the Elder wand because Dumbldore gave it to him on the top of the highest tower. Not in a "here kid look at this really cool wand" type of giving but more in a surrender. The wand has to be taken from your opponent. Snape was never Dumbledore's opponent but Malfoy was. Dumbledore knew he was going to die so he surrendered to Malfoy therefor making Malfoy the master of the wand. Ollivander said it in the first movie " the wand chooses the wizard" and because Volde.... never took a wand from Malfoy he was never the master of the Elder wand that he snatched from Dumbledore's coffin. Harry took Malfoy's wand from him at Malfoy Manor so that makes him the Master of the Elder Wand. A little leap of faith on JK's part in my opinion but it made for really great reading.

Re: Discuss the Epilogue

It does make one hopeful that JKR will publish some more books for charity or profit. I would love to see a series called the Hogwarts Diaries, where some of those questions that we have are answered. I would not be disappointed if she wrote another book, but I am certainly pleased with the outcome. I look forward to rereading the last book at a more leisurely pace next time and savoring more of the story. However, if not one other book is written, I certainly have filled in the blanks in my own mind. I certainly see a framed picture of Fred giving George the business as he runs the joke shop and Luna taking over her father's paper, Mrs. Weasley in her glory as a grandmother, and Mr. W. turning down the position as Minister of Magic to continue dabbling in the world of Muggles. So many questions, but so many answers and such a great ending. The "boy who lived" finally got to. LW

Those are some great ideas, Luna7. I, too, would like to see her continue on with these characters. But if she doesn't we're free to imagine our own futures for each of them and you've made a great start!

Isn't that the truth! I was totally shocked at Ron's rather frequent use of "f'ing!" I got the audio book from the library (and if you have NOT had the pleasure of listening to Jim Dale read the books, you MUST do so...it's worth it to start the whole series over!) and I was really surprised at the amount of swearing in this book. Oh, yeah...it was true-to-life, alright.

Things are very different in Europe than they are here, things can be said and done and they don't take it as hard as we do here. I think you should be able to read the books about age 9-10 and I think thats whats she's said herself. How many parents curse and how many kids go to school and curse on the playground? Come on kids are going to hear it anyways and it wasn't horrible done, they weren't cursing at eachother with everyother sentence. Come on people kids have bigger fish to fry other than a book with a few curse words splashed in.

Re: Discuss Chapter 36

i thought that the Elder Wand belonged to Draco because he won it from Dumbledore, because he used Expelliarmus (however you spell it) and he disarmed Dumbledore. So then the Elder Wand belonged to Draco. And then Harry took Draco's wand from him at his manor so then it the Elder Wand was Harry's.

In Book 6, Draco disarms Dumbledore with "expelliarmus" on top of the tower, and Dumbledore's wand falls over the edge. So,Draco won the wand so to speak [took it by force] but he never actually possessed it. I guess they must have recovered Dumbledore's wand when they recovered his body, and had him burried with it.

I completly agree with annie-w. First of all it wasn't as if every page you turned there were swear words flying at you. J.K. merely used it in some places to get to emotion the charcters were feeling across. Besdies, its not like she actually wrote the real "f" word but she spared young readers by phrasing it differently and saying 'what the eff' instead. For parents to complain about kids reading this book is completly blowing the whole thing out of proportion because most parents have probably uttered a curse or two at least once in their lifetime. Also kids probably here the words everyday and as long as they're not using it to hurt other people's feelings then it should not be thta big of a deal. Besides, I rather like Ron and Ms. Weasley swearing. It makes the story seem all the more real.

Re: Discuss the Epilogue

What use is the encyclopedia going to be? Is it going to give an insight to us readers about the characters or is it just some sort of a continuation of the epilogue?

Re: Discuss the Epilogue

the encyclopedia will mean everything! i just hope it will explain what happens to the dursleys. I was a little disappointed with the epilogue becasue it left so many questions left unanswered and that was a shock becasue in Harry Potter, all questions are normally answered and/or explained. However, i loved the last page. I plan on memorizing it. It was so simple, yet it packed such a punch.
