Taoism: Tao Te Ching

Interpreting the Tao Te Ching seems to depend on what translation you are looking at. I believe there have been over 200 translations into English. There are many difficulties in redering Chinese thought and calligraphy into western words. I thought it might be worthwhile comparing some translations and maybe coming up with our own thoughts as to what concepts are being communicated. I found this web site that has 10 online translations that can be easily compared side by side and even copied over to this board for discussion. Just select the translation and verse. Here is another web site that looks at a number of translations as well as giving the literal Chinese translation of selected lines from the Tao Te Ching. However, the basic Interpetation is based on the text we are using, D. C. Lau.
