An ancient Babylonian tablet has revealed that Noah was instructed to build a circular boat.

The Biblical text actually give dimesions - 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high.

The problem with those dimensions is we don't actually know how long a cubit is. Any definition of a cubit is just an educated (or not-so-educated) guess.

As long as the cubit is a consistent measure, then the Biblcal diminsions would preclude a round ark.

Well, presumably the point of this find is an alternate version of the same religious story (a Babylonian version, in this case) rather than a disagreement about the shape of a historical ark.

The discussion is not a debate but comparison of texts. Almost every culture on the planet with a written history has a flood story. Most however do not have the detail of the Genesis account with dimensions, technique and materials. There is a wonderful apologetic book dealing with the flood called The Genesis Flood by Whitcomb and Morris. This book discusses every detail of comparison and occurrence also likelihood and geologic evidence of a world wide cataclysm.
