My Nook sat for a while and when I wanted to use it was dead battery. I plugged it in, the yellow charge light came on and it eventually rebooted. However, since then the charge light won't come back on and it refuses to charge.
It's at 4% charge and has been sitting all night plugged in with no change. I did a reset this morning (held power for 20 secs) and it immediately shut down with the "you need to charge, the nook will turn on when it's been charged" page. I plugged it in, charge light on, a few minutes later it starts, charge light off.
It's been sitting here plugged in for a while now, no charge light and no icon showing it's charging. The USB cable is seated properly and I'm using the wall charger.
Anyone seen something similar? Anything I can do here?

I suggest that you contact Customer Service, 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665), option 2 for Digital Support.
They can walk you through diagnosing the problem a lot faster than we can, and if there's a problem with your battery they can send you a replacement.

Seems to be sorted with instructions located here:
The tl;dr: I removed the battery, plugged the nook in with the battery not in the device, waited for it to boot (it even has an icon for "I don't have a battery"- the battery symbol is filled with a question mark in it), and once it was done booting, replaced the battery while it was still connected. It's happily charging and the charge icon is correct now.
