My wife's nook also has the same crack as shown in the photos. We both have our own nook's and so far we absolutely love them. I will contact B&N support tomorrow to see about getting a replacement.

Just wanted to follow up - I called B&N regarding my cracked button, and they didn't even blink an eye offering me a replacement. I spent probably 10 minutes total on the phone from dialing to hanging up, so obviously their call volume has gone way down since "the big rush" in Jan & Feb. Called on Monday, replacement received on Wednesday, and my old one is on its way back to them as of today.
My nook stays in its Industriell cover all the time, by the way. Not as protective as a silicone case, but I guarantee you the buttons don't get knocked around. I'm much more careful with my nook than I am with my iPhone.

My Nook had a crack in the right side forward button. B&N replaced the whole Nook. Customer service was VERY nice. I was curious so I went to my local B&N store to look at their demo Nooks. BOTH had cracks--one near the right forward button, one near the left back button. I'm keeping a close watch on my new Nook. Glad I got the extended warrantee.

My wife and I each have nooks. They both have cracked within the last two weeks. Right page turn button. Mine is 2 months old, hers is 1 month old. Have not decided what to do yet. We were on vacation for the last two weeks and the nooks worked great, much easier than bringing a bunch of books. We spent most days at the beach and the viewing was fine.

my button-crack appeared yesterday...page forward on the right side...getting a replacement...my question to customer service was what were they going to do when the replacement cracked, replace it again? My understanding was they will...we could get brand new Nooks every year!!!!

My right page turn button just cracked today to. The nook has been kept in a case and never dropped, though I have read around a dozen books on it. I'll try calling customer support today.

I just discovered today the dreaded micro-crack on the left side forward button. I purchased my nook less than a month ago. It has sustained only moderate use thus far.
I really hope customer service will replace it. I do not have the extended warranty. For those who have gotten replacements, have they mentioned what they would do if the crack re-occurs?

Although an avid reader, I was surprised to find the right page turn button cracked this morning. It appears the design was never thought out properly.

4 months in and mine just cracked. Right Forward button.
After a quick call to B&N they're express-ing me a new one.
Props for that.
Now here's hoping it lasts longer.

I just noticed the other day that I have a small, hairline crack just below the right page forward button. Its not nearly as bad as the one in the picture, but I imagine its just going to get worse. I got my Nook in February and use it quite often. I've read about 5 or 6 books on it so far. I'd say I use the right page forward button the majority of the time...maybe 90%.

I wish I would have found this forum last Friday. I discovered a hairline crack on my right side forward button...have read about 17 books with my nook since receiving it at the end of January. I ended up selling the broken one on eBay and buying myself a new one...that'll teach me to do more research next time; I just assumed it was something I had done.

I got my nook for Christmas and after about three weeks my right page-forward button cracked so I filled the crack with a thin line of super glue.. I didn't consider that a cracked button could be a recurring problem for nook-users, simply thought I was pushing the buttons too hard. Since the adhesive has held up, I sort of forgot about the right crack until I just noticed that my left page-forward button cracked (ugh!).
I'm wondering if any of you think that B&N will have issues replacing my nook due to the glue I applied?

Just noticed the crack on my next-page button today (actually 2). Called B&N and got a replacement sent out today with 14 days to return mine and B&N is picking up the shipping charges. No hassle at all. Maybe 10 minutes on the phone. It's definitely a design flaw and not misuse. I am very careful with mine and have had a leather cover on it since day one. I do use it frequently though. Maybe 15 books since mid-January. I will also start using the swipe going foward with the new one. I just hope the replacement Nook is new and not refurbished. Do they have to tell you if it's refurbished??

Mine cracked last week. Right side page forward. Got rapid replacement next day. Cracked all the way from screen around case. Hope the new one doesn't do it too, but it feels really stiff.
I think they need to redesign with a soft rubber pad of some kind covering those buttons.

Mine cracked last week.
Hope the new one doesn't do it too,.
It won't if you learn the thumb swipe. Save your buttons for when you need them.
