It's a really bad habit I have. I always read the last few pages after I'm a chapter or two into a book, but just now I read the last page of a book I'm dying to dive into before I even started!
Anyone else do this?

Sometimes my fingers just itch to read the ending... but I live in fear of the Book Police coming to get me.
I'm also afraid of the Pillow/Mattress Police - haven't torn tags off in 30+ yrs....
Even though I'm tempted I try not to read the end early. There aren't many surprises in life anymore so I get mine from books.... Especially romances! ![]()

I am notrious for after reading part of the book going to the last chapter and reading it. I just can't help it I have to know the ending. But I do go back and finish the book.

I never read last page until I get there. It would ruin it for me. However, I will admit that I sometimes "skim" boring parts to get to ending faster!![]()

I don't consider it "cheating." I'm reading for my personal enjoyment and how I choose to read a book is no one else's business. And since there aren't any book police, I'll read the way I find enjoyable.
If a book really grabs me, I often do read the ending and then go back and read it carefully.
I also read a number of books I've enjoyed several times, and I often discover things I've missed.
I also skip the long parts of some authors, who haven't been critical enough of their own writi ng, or whose editors let them ramble on to no purpose.

Sadly, I'm the type of person who reads the last page. And get excited to see how the plot/characters/etc. gets there.
I'm more excited for the middle than the ending. lol I'm strange.

I think when I read the last pages it's because I am a mad control freak. I have to know what is going to happen! I hate seeing movies or watching shows if I haven't heard about the ending too. I have a problem. ![]()

i often read the last page or sentence. if that sounds good then sometimes i just have to read the last chapter/prologue. But if looks like there might be spoilers i dont. I just like to see that in the end they are disgustingly happy![]()

I don't read the end of the book first BUT.... when we watch movies I always ask "does he die?" When movies end badly I get really bummed.

Oh no never ! That cracks me up...of course I am very anal. I have to read a series in order and I never peek at the ending. I cross all my it's and dot my i's....but I do enjoy the ride.
As for movies..my family hates that I gripe the book was so much better, or that isn't how I pictured him etc. Before I can open my mouth my kids have said, "We know Mom its not as good as the book !" sheesh....![]()

Always and not only the last page more like the last chapter or two. If I don't like how it ends I don't bother reading it since I will only be disappointed. LOL I really don't like surprises so I have to cheat and read ahead.

I do glance at the back to see how many pages are in the book, but I scrupulously avoid reading anything on the last page. If I accidentally saw how it ended, I wouldn't want to read it! But I do like knowing how many pages there are, so I can pace myself.

I do this with almost all of my paper/hard back books. I really try not to, but I just have to read the last couple of pages. I think like Melanie said, it's a control thing. However, I do not do this when I'm reading an Ebook though. It's just so much easier to flip to the back in a physical book, but in an Ebook, since there's a couple extra steps to take, I don't bother.

No. No. No. I never peek at the ending before reading the book. For me, the journey is just as important as the happy ending. I like to take it page by page, savoring every delicious bit; all the highs and lows of the relationship before reaching the final, happy conclusion. ![]()
Melanie, I have to admit that a few books have tempted me, like Joanna Bourne's THE BLACK HAWK or Julie Anne Long's WHAT I DID FOR A DUKE but even with those, I didn't peek...and by the time I reached the end, I was so glad I hadn't!

Ha! Books I don't even care about tempt me and I can't help myself. I am very impressed with you that you have such control over yourself! I have none, unfortunately.
