Re: If you like Diana Gabaldon...

I have to say that Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series really affected my life, it not only brought my mother and I together more in an interest we could share, you just can't look at Scotland or the eastern wilderness without thinking of Jamie and Claire.  Whenever I miss them I just read a little of my favorite parts.  Now I am 4 books into  Sara Donati's Into the Wilderness Series and am worried because I don't know any other authors that write quite like Diana does, Sara is a very close second.  Who else writes multi-novel sagas of love and adventure? Especially during this time period. Any suggestions?

Have you read the earth chikdren series by Jean Auel? Clan of the Cave Bear is the first book.

Clan of the cave bear is written about the cave man time period - not Scotland. I've always heard good things about this series but I could not trudge through it. It is a series but that's about all it has in common with Outlander.

If you've read all of Gabaldon's series make sure to read the Outlandish Companion. Her sharp, witty writing style continues in this book.  A must read.

If you have to fill the void of Scottish time travel books I'd recommend Karen Marie Moning's Immortal Highland series isn't bad.

Re: If you like Diana Gabaldon...

I have read all of Moning's books, they are good.

While Clan of the Cave bear is not about Scottish ties or time travel, the saga is a good one. I think there are about 6 books. They are great.
