January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Lyra Prescott, a Los Angeles film student, is closing in on graduation and facing important decisions about her future. She's already been offered a job at her hometown TV station, an opportunity that could ultimately launch her dream career as a film editor. But heading back home would also mean dealing with her overprotective brothers, social-climbing mother, and eccentric grandmother. Unsure of her future, Lyra dives into work on her final school assignment: a documentary transformed by a twist of fate into a real-life horror film.

After she unwittingly captures a shocking crime on camera, a rash of mysterious, treacherous incidents convince Lyra that she's trapped in a sinister scenario headed for a violent ending. Running scared, she turns to her best friend, Sidney Buchanan, whose connections bring dauntless and devilishly handsome FBI agent Sam Kincaid into Lyra's life. As the noose of deadly intrigue tightens and the feelings between them deepen, Lyra and Sam must place their faith in each other's hands—and stand together against the malevolent forces about to break loose.

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Not only is Julie Garwood the author of some of the greatest romances ever published, but she has one really cool website. I mean this sincerely. If you're a fan, please check it out. www.juliegarwood.com. You can play music there, see a trailer for her latest paperback, Fire and Ice, and literally look at her bookshelf.

And don't forget that Ms. Garwood will be visiting starting Monday. She'll be taking all questions, comments, and general conversation all week long!

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Julie is positively my favorite author. I have enjoyed her books for years and eagerly anticipate each new release. She is incredibly strong in both her historicals and contemporaries. I think I most enjoy the books where her heroine and hero spark immediately and work together through the majority of the story against an outside force. I was slightly disappointed in Fire and Ice from that perspective but that was the nature of those characters. Sizzle came back in full force though. It's almost embarassing to admit, but I've already read it twice. Love ya, Julie!! Keep up the GREAT work!

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

I had so much fun writing this story.   I had written several books about the Buchanan family and had considered concentrating on Sidney Buchanan next, but it was actually her roommate, Lyra Prescott, who captured my attention, and it was her story I wanted to tell.  Like Sidney, Lyra is a film student in L.A.  When she gets into trouble, Sidney Buchanan's brothers come to her rescue by calling in their friend, Special Agent Sam Kincaid, who happens to be in L.A.

I love this hero.  He's a descendant of Alec Kincaid from my historical novel, THE BRIDE, and very much like him.  When Sam and Lyra get together, things began to sizzle.

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Julie, now I really can't wait to read it. I love the Buchanan family and I remember Sidney, so I guess we'll just have to in a year or so find out Sidney's story that's a wait I can deal with. And it's so cool that the hero is a descendant of Alec from The Bride. That means so much more to me as a reader when I can have ties to my characters. It almost makes the read a part of a series even when it's a stand-a-lone.

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Julie, you flatter me and now I'm dreaming of all the great times we are going to have together as besties. :smileywink:

I love that Sam is a descendent of Alex. Bride is one of my favorites, and like Debbie said, it makes the current read that much more meaningful when the characters have connections to character we already care about. But I also love that all your characters live in the same world, whether it be in the past or present.

So when will Sydney get her book?

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Hi Juilie!

I just finished reading Sizzle and I absolutely loved it! Well, come to think of it, I have loved each of your books that I have read thus far.

I have to admit that I become quite attached to each of your characters, so long as they aren't a bad guy, and wish for each of them to have their own story. I really hope Cordie gets a story. Ever since I read Murder List I have wanted her and Aiden to find their romance. Then of course there is Regan's other brother, Kate's sisters, and the rest of the Buchanan clan that I hope to read about in future books as well! No matter who you introduce us to, I am sure I will love his/her story!

I would love to write more about Sidney but I haven't come up with her story yet.  I will definitely keep  her in mind as I'm working on new ideas.

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

I too want to write Cordie's story and am thinking that the love of her life, Aiden, will have to pursue her all the way to Australia to mend her broken heart.  Not sure exactly when or how but I do plan to make Aiden suffer for ignoring her for so long.

I promise it will be a fun chase.

I also am working on ideas for other characters but it's hard to predict who will get to the head of the line.

I hope you'll like the new one I'm working on now.

All the best,

Julie

Just knowing that you're thinking about Cordie and Aiden brings a smile to my face! What a fun story I know that will be.

Would you be willing to go into a little more detail about your upcoming projects? I've read a little bit about them on your website, but as always, I find myself impatient to learn more. Thanks!

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

A little off-topic...but when you mentioned not knowing which characters would make it to the head of the line I had a mental image of all of your characters standing around in a line. I can't help but think that is a line I would love to be in!:smileyhappy:

Re: January Feature #1: SIZZLE by Julie Garwood

Julie,

You are definately my favorite author, I love your books.  I read a couple of your historical romances a while ago, but I really got hooked when I picked up Heartbreaker.  I am in the military and picked up Heartbreaker in our little ramshackle library.  I read it in like a day.  After that I couldn't wait to order the rest of the series.  Then of course I had to have all the history... connecting characters.  I finished Sizzle here in Korea, so your books go everywhere with me.   I can't wait for the next book.  Thank you.

HELP! I've fallen and can't reach my book!!!!
