So, I'm in the middle of The Forbidden Rose and think it's the best historical I've read so far this year...This of course got me to wondering what you guys consider the best reads of the first half of 2010.
Please, post your picks below...
This may be my top pick, too.
I'd also include Anna Campbell's new book, the whole Hathaway series by Lisa Kleypas, Sherry Thomas' latest release - really, there are just too many to list!

Yes. It is. There's just a lot of meat to the story. It reminds me of an Eloisa James in terms of the intelligence of the dialogue and plot and character. I'll post a thread with a review when I'm done.

What about Ten Things I Love About You - dialogue, characters, romance. I think it might be a contender!!

I'm a big history buff and I'm in love with Anthropology/Archaeology (and going to school for it as well) so this one really nailed it on the head for me. I really love this book.

Yeah, it's the TBR pile issue. Some of the books I'm reading just came out (or are about to); others have been in the pile awhile.

Melanie - this is a hard one but I'll give it a try.
For historical definitely The Forbidden Rose - Ms. Bourne's ability to write in one sentence what takes some authors and entire book to convey is amazing.
For paranormal I'm torn between Stormwalker
and Lover Mine
For erotic romance I'd have to say Jaci Burton's book...
but I'm in the middle of reading and really enjoying Beth Williamson's Unbridled so it could be a tie between these two.
I've yet to find a contemporary this year that has knocked my socks off - but I'm still searching.

Great posts, folks. I'm so with you on Stormwalker, Marisa - you know how I loved that book. And I finished Forbidden Rose last night and it's definitely my favorite of the year. Just too amazing for words. It was so amazing that I don't even want to read another book yet! I'm too busy spinning Adrian's story in my head. ![]()
Deb, I'm going to add your book to the pile.

Wow that Unbridled cover looks like something Becke should add to her showcase of great covers. The story line reminds me of He's No Prince Charming by LuAnn McLane, which also has a good cover. ![]()

Hi Deb -
Can you post the link when you feature "Just Breathe". I so enjoyed that book. I think it's one of Susan Wiggs' best.
Thanks,
Maria

Those are some great covers I own the first two books in Elizabeth Amber's series. The story line is different but good. A lot of erotica.
