There are some great authors with new books out today!

Catherine Anderson's Star Bright sounds really good. It's about a woman who fakes her own death to escape her abusive husband. Ther Library Journal called this "one of the author's best to date." I'm ordering a copy today. And I have to say that I think her covers are some of the best. They always catch my eye.

Lora Leigh's Only Pleasure is part of her Bound Hearts series. This series is very, very sexy, so those of you who like your romances hot this is the author for you!

Jacquie D'Alessandro is one of my favorite historical romance authors. Her characters are intelligent and her storylines are always unique and fresh. I've read Sleepless at Midnight and Confessions at Midnight, and now the latest in this series is out: Seduced at Midnight. If you're looking for a new historical author to try, I highly recommend Jacquie.

I know that many of you have been looking for a new time-travel romance series, and this one seems promising: author Veronica Wolff has written three romances featuring modern-day heroines time-traveling back to seventeenth-century Scotland. The third in the series, Warrior of the Highlands, is out today. I linked to her website; it's really beautiful!

Hi,

I have read Veronica Wolff's books and they are a great read.  I found them not only a good novel but full of interesting historical references.  I would definitely recommend them! Especially if you have ever read Karen Hawkins or the early novels of Karen Marie Moning.

Enjoy! :smileyhappy:

PS I totally know what you mean about having to many books to read and not enough time. :smileyhappy:

Re: New Release Tuesday!

[ Edited ]
It's a rainy Tuesday but I'm making a special trip to my local B&N to buy the new book from Karen Hawkins:

Sleepless in Scotland

When sensible Catriona Hurst sets off in pursuit of her wild twin sister, Caitlyn -- whose plan to trap the handsome laird of Clan MacLean into marriage will lead her to sure disaster -- she never expects the journey to end with her own wedding. First Triona is caught in MacLean's carriage, thenshe's roundly scolded, and then -- to her shocked surprise -- thoroughly kissed! She is caught, body and soul, by the laird's enigmatic younger brother, Hugh MacLean, who had set a trap for the unprincipled sister and refuses to believe that he's caught the other. While Hugh is enchanted by Triona's delightful response to his kiss, he soon realizes that she is not who he thought, but an innocent whom honor demands he wed immediately. And he also discovers that letting the passionate Triona into his bed is far easier than keeping her out of his many concerns -- even the ones he'd planned to keep secret!

Also released today is Susan Carroll's

Twilight of a Queen

This is the latest in her Dark Queen series.

As war and treachery loom, an ambitious man’s mission threatens to topple two dazzling realms and their formidable rulers: Catherine de Medici, the Dark Queen, and Ariane, the Lady of Faire Isle.

It is 1588, and as the Spanish Armada prepares to besiege England, Paris balances on the brink of revolution. To maintain her grip on the throne and on the dark magic that has become her obsession, Catherine de Medici turns to Louis Xavier, a ruthless corsair who was schooled in the dark arts and has mastered piracy along the Spanish main. But Louis’s basest instincts are held in check by the kindness of Lady Jane Danvers, a British exile whose innate sense of honor is but one facet of her complex and passionate nature.

On Faire Isle, Ariane Cheney, unaware of the escalating threat from the Dark Queen, struggles with the task of protecting the daughters of the earth and their vast store of ancient magical wisdom. Weak and desperate for an advantage, the ailing Catherine makes a devil’s bargain that will cast a shadow over all.

Re: New Release Tuesday!

I keep hearing about the new Karen Hawkins book (love the title), so I'm going to have to add that to the pile. That other book sounds intriguing, too. I just glanced back at last week's new releases, and noticed Stephanie Bond's name on one. At National, I felt bad for a woman I met who introduced herself as, "Stephanie Bond. Not that one."

Re: New Release Tuesday!

Oh, the last Tuesday of the month, how I love thee...

So Into You

Angel Sabato has been in love with best friend Grace O'Brien for 10 years--but he's only just realized it. Too bad she doesn't take him seriously when he tells her about his feelings. Reeling from the rejection, Angel hightails it out of town.
Now Grace is left to wonder if her problems from the past are keeping her from opening herself to love. But she brushes these "useless" musings aside, concentrating instead on the work she's doing as an apprentice to folk healer Tante Lulu and keeping up with the old woman's good deeds.
Re-enter Angel. Unbeknownst to Grace, Tante Lulu has decided to try her hand at matchmaking again. And Tante Lulu has never failed before!

Breaking Loose  No one’s ever seen it. Everybody wants it. That’s why the government has just unleashed its secret weapon. Drop-dead-gorgeous art dealer Suzi Toussi has been tapped for the toughest mission of her career: to locate the Memphis Sphinx, an ancient artifact rumored to possess otherworldly powers. Tracking it to Paraguay means going up against Dax Killian, the sexy special ops agent who’s planning to snatch the coveted relic right out of her hot little hands. If he can find it first…

How to Tame a Modern Rogue Commitment-phobic Sam Carson has only dated model-gorgeous women. But one stolen kiss from a plain-Jane schoolteacher and he's hell-bent on stripping away her floral dresses and teaching her the art of being bad. If only her good-girl ways didn't make him want to be a better man...
Ally Giordano is at the end of her rope. Her beloved grandmother actually believes that she's living in her favorite romance novel in Regency England and Ally doesn't have the heart to set her straight. But now Granny Donny's last wish is for a retreat to the country and Ally can't refuse her...until she demands that Sam accompany them. And though his smiles turn her knees into jelly, Ally knows better than to trust a playboy...and she definitely knows better than to try to change one. Or does she?

A Duke of Her Own

Leopold Dautry, the notorious Duke of Villiers, must wed quickly and nobly—and his choices, alas, are few. The Duke of Montague's daughter, Eleanor, is exquisitely beautiful and fiercely intelligent. Villiers betroths himself to her without further ado.

After all, no other woman really qualifies. Lisette, the outspoken daughter of the Duke of Gilner, cares nothing for clothing or decorum. She's engaged to another man, and doesn't give a fig for status or title. Half the ton believes Lisette mad—and Villiers is inclined to agree.

Torn between logic and passion, between intelligence and imagination, Villiers finds himself drawn to the very edge of impropriety. But it is not until he's in a duel to the death, fighting for the reputation of the woman he loves, that Villiers finally realizes that the greatest risk may not be in the dueling field...But in the bedroom. And the heart.

Mastered by Love (Bastion Club Series)

As the mysterious leader of the Bastion Club known as "Dalziel," Royce Varisey, tenth Duke of Wolverstone, served his country for decades, facing dangers untold. But as the holder of one of England's most august noble titles, he must now take on that gravest duty of all: marriage.

Yet the young ladies the grand dames would have him consider are predictably boring. Far more tempting is his castle's willful and determinedly aloof chatelaine, Minerva Chesterton. Beneath her serene facade lies a woman of smoldering sensuality, one who will fill his days with comfort and his nights with sheer pleasure. Determined to claim her, he embarks on a seduction to prove his mastery over every inch of her body . . . and every piece of her heart.

Written on Your Skin

Beauty, charm, wealthy admirers: Mina Masters enjoys every luxury but freedom. To save herself from an unwanted marriage, she turns her wiles on a darkly handsome stranger. But Mina's would-be hero is playing his own deceptive game. A British spy, Phin Granville has no interest in emotional entanglements...until the night Mina saves his life by gambling her own.

Beauty and the Duke  The face he shows the world is not the face she sees. . . Once, ten years ago, they were young lovers, sharing sinful touches and desperate ecstasy. But he was bound by his promise to wed another. Since that fateful time, Christine Sommers has grown into a headstrong beauty, the kind of woman who thinks nothing of daring travels to the ends of the world. But for all her achievements, Christine has never found anyone who makes her heart race the way Erik Boughton once did. Since that fateful time, Erik Boughton, the Duke of Sedgwick, has become something of a beast, at least according to the gossips of the ton. They say that he's cursed, that any woman who shares his bed will meet an untimely end. But when he comes to Christine, desperate for her help to preserve his family and his title, she does not fear the devil duke. Enthralled by his ravenous desire, she would give him anything he wished, even her body . . . and her heart.

The Bridegroom Undercover agent Gideon Yarbro is renowned for stopping outlaws almost before they commit a crime. But now he must stop a wedding—despite the bride's resistance. Lydia Fairmont will lose everything if she doesn't honor her betrothal to a heartless banker. Unless she marries someone else instead…whether it's a love match or not.

Determined to honor his own decade-old promise to help Lydia, Gideon carries her off to Stone Creek and makes her his reluctant wife. Forget a honeymoon for "show"—not with a vengeful ex-fiancé on their trail and a hired gun on the loose. But there just might be hope for the marriage…and two hearts meant for each other.

Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress Series #4)  Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they've fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it's time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about. Gregor believes Cat is his and he won't stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

Obsession Untamed (Feral Warriors Series #2)  They are called Feral Warriors—an elite band of immortals who can change shape at will. Sworn to rid the world of evil, consumed by sorcery and seduction, their wild natures are primed for release . . . Every time she closes her eyes, Delaney Randall suffers another nightmare. A brutal serial killer has found his way inside the tough, take-no-prisoners FBI agent's head. Now she lives the murders through his eyes, from his deadly approach to his victims' screams—until the night he breaks into her apartment and she fears she's going to be the next to die. But the man who snatches Delaney from her home isn't the murderer. He's Tighe, a dangerous Feral Warrior who needs her and her visions to stop the rampages of a creature as inhuman as he is evil. Tighe has little use for humans, but as he and Delaney join forces to track the dark fiend, he falls for the intense beauty and becomes wild with an obsession as untamed as his heart.

Dark Lover Ian Maclean's arrogance hides a terrible secret—for decades he was held prisoner by demons. Not a day goes by that he isn't tormented by his darkest fears of powerlessness. Now he is about to sell to the highest bidder a page he's stolen from the Book of Power—if one woman doesn't stop him.

Slayer Samantha Rose's latest mission is to recover the stolen page—and get payback from the only man who's ever rejected her. What she hasn't counted on is the raging attraction between them—or her growing realization of what Maclean has survived. As the powers of the evil from his past gather, Sam will do anything to help him—even if it means following him into time and facing his worst nightmares with him….

Twisted  Though former FBI Special Agent Sloane Burbank once survived a life-threatening injury in the line of duty, she now uses her specialized skills as an independent consultant. But when one of her closest childhood friends mysteriously disappears, Sloane takes the case—even though her ex-lover Derek Parker is the FBI agent in charge.

Hot Pursuit (Troubleshooters Series #15) Alyssa Locke is no stranger to dealing with danger. As team leader of the nation’s number one personal security company, Troubleshooters Inc., she’s seen more than her share of action, survived plenty of close calls, and holds her own with the best of them–and against the worst of them. Guarding lives is her game, and no one plays it better. But her toughest challenge will be protecting herself from a serial killer she’s been after for years–known only as “The Dentist”–who is determined to make her his ultimate trophy.

Chosen to Die

Detective Regan Pescoli has worked the -Star Crossed Killer- case for months, never imagining she'd be captured by the madman she's been hunting. Regan knows exactly what he's capable of--and avoiding the same fate will take every drop of her courage and cunning.

Regan Pescoli is unlike any woman Nate Santana has met before. But now she's missing, and Nate knows something is dangerously wrong. The only person who can help him find her is Detective Selena Alvarez, Regan's partner. As Nate and Selena dig deeper into the Star-Crossed Killer case and the body count rises, the truth about Regan's disappearance becomes chillingly clear.

In the desolate Montana woods, evil is lurking. And with time running out, the only way to save Regan will be to get inside a killer's twisted mind and unravel a shocking message that is being revealed, one body at a time. . .

Cutting Edge Security specialist Duke Rogan is on duty at a controversial bio-tech firm when its state-of-the-art computer system fails, igniting a deadly inferno and leaving a grotesquely charred body in its wake. Suspecting that a radical anti-technology group is behind the blaze, the FBI domestic terrorism unit, led by Nora English, moves in on the case. But when an autopsy reveals that the victim actually bled to death, the hunt is on to track and stop a lethal assassin. To ferret out the truth, Duke joins forces with the Feds, despite Nora’s objections. But neither can deny how well they work together as a team–or that the static between them has turned to sparks. As the pressure to crack the case increases, the investigation takes a turn too disturbingly close to home for Nora. Now she’ll have to trust her deepest instincts and take the ultimate risk for the people she loves and the justice she believes in.

Re: New Release Tuesday!

[ Edited ]

It occured to me today that the publishers are looking to us book-buyers to keep the economy afloat. How do you explain so many amazing releases, only one week after a Tuesday loaded with goodies from authors like Eloisa, Stephanie Laurens, Linda Lael Miller, and Suzanne Brockmann?

Available today:

Skykeepers (Final Prophecy Series #3) In this sexy series based around the Mayan doomsday prophecy, a group of magic- wielding warrior heroes called the Nightkeepers are ready to fight the demon creatures of the underworld to prevent annihilation…

When prominent Mayanist Ambrose Ledbetter goes missing, his daughter Sasha tracks his remains down to an ancient temple. Before she can recover from the shock, she is kidnapped. Slick and charming recruit Michael Stone rescues Sasha from her imprisonment and feels an instant attraction. But he doesn’t dare get involved, with the threat of his dark side growing stronger and the powers of sorcery on the rise. Both Michael and Sasha will discover a new passion together and one they have to admit to in order to change their worlds…

Laced with Magic Knit shop owner and sorcerer’s daughter Chloe Hobbs felt the Fates finally got it right when she met Luke MacKenzie. And no one could have convinced her otherwise—including the trolls, selkies, or spirits who also call Sugar Maple, Vermont, home. But then out of nowhere Luke’s ex-wife suddenly shows up, claiming to see the spirit of their daughter, Steffie—a daughter Chloe knows nothing about.

Babydoll Three models have been found dead around New York City, each with a lock of hair missing. It would be just another tabloid headline to Saylor Oz—except that her best friend Benita’s brother stands accused. Saylor is convinced someone is reenacting the events of an old movie called Bad, Bad Babydoll. But no one else thinks so—not even the sexy P.I. on the case. Undeterred, Saylor and Benita must infiltrate the modeling world—and put themselves at risk of becoming the killer’s next victim.

Beguiled Maureen Child’s sexy, feisty heroine, Maggie Donovan, a descendant of Otherworldly Faeries, returns to face her greatest challenge—a certain ex-queen who has not been destroyed and wants her crown back. When Maggie’s niece is kidnapped by Queen Mab, Maggie must overcome her mistrust of her dashing Fae Warrior lover, Culhane, and unite the Fae Warriors to save the girl and defeat the rebel queen once and for all—or lose everything.

The Second Betrayal As an undercover agent for the NSA’s Recovery Enforcement Division, Alexi Steele is no stranger to the ways and means of the country’s most notorious sex criminals. Still, she’s never seen anything quite like this. Girls from across the globe are being recruited for a modeling competition in New York City, only to end up as enslaved prostitutes. Now it’s up to Lexi and her partner—and lover—Nicholas Donovan to infiltrate the operation.

Finding the mastermind behind the sex trafficking is only one half of the challenge. The other is Nick. Even though she has always trusted him, Lexi can’t help but wonder whether he’s keeping something from her—a shocking secret from his past on the Special Forces unit. Meanwhile, time is running out for the victims…and Lexi may be forced to do the unthinkable to see that the job is done.

Saving Midnight Graham Fitz Clare became a vampire to save his adoptive father from a deadly enemy. Sadly, the price of that rescue may have been too high. Edmund’s captors are at large again, and are amassing the sort of power that could make them unstoppable. In the end, the love the Fitz Clares share with each other could be all that stands between them and a desperate storm of destruction.

Laid Bare It's been ten years since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan had a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn't in the cards just yet... Now, life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough, in light of a painful event from Erin's past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd's best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed--and all three are quite satisfied in this relationship without a name. As the passion they share transforms Erin, will it be enough to help her face the evil she thought she had left behind?

Bad Moon Rising (Dark-Hunter Series) A stunning and suspenseful new landscape emerges in the thrilling Dark-Hunter world—a world where nothing will ever be the same again. . .

Fang Kattalakis isn't just a wolf. He is the brother of two of the most powerful members of the Omegrion: the ruling council that enforces the laws of the Were-Hunters. And when war erupts among the lycanthropes, sides must be chosen. Enemies are forced into shaky alliances. And when the woman Fang loves is accused of betraying her people, her only hope is that Fang believes in her. Yet in order to save her, Fang must break the law of his people and the faith of his brothers. That breech could very well spell the end of both their races and change their world forever.

Out of the Light, Into the Shadows Embrace the darkness and experience the light in this all-new anthology filled with touching stories of happily ever after alongside smoldering tales of irresistibly dangerous, otherworldly passion. From bewitching emotions and untamed desire to dazzling romance and tantalizing sensuality, these novellas explore the complex facets of the human heart—both the light side and the dark.

Storm of Visions (Chosen Ones Series #1) Jacqueline Vargha has always run from her gift. Now Caleb D'Angelo forces his way into her life, demands his place as her lover, and insists she take her place as one of the Chosen. She flees, he pursues, but she can no longer deny her visions, or the dangerous man who is her downfall — and her destiny.

Bengal's Heart Reporter Cassa Hawkins has always supported Breed rights—especially in light of a specimen like Cabal St. Laurents, the epitome of the male animal. But when the Breeds are incriminated in a series of violent murders, it’s left to Cassa and Cabal to discover the truth before they become prey.

The Deep Blue Sea for Beginners A legendary island steeped in the mystery and wisdom of centuries…

A runaway heiress learning to trust life, and love…

A mother and daughter, separated for years, searching for a way to face the future together…

Loves Me, Loves Me Knot Jenna Langan knows what she wants, and as she tells her best friends after their weekly knitting group, she doesn’t need a man to give it to her…only a few of his best swimmers.  And just because her marriage to undercover vice cop Gage Marshall ended badly doesn’t mean he can’t still give her the baby she’s always wanted.  In fact, she’s willing to bet a couple of her favorite hand-knit boas that she can tie him up in knots he’ll definitely enjoy…

Re: New Release Tuesday!

Hi Everyone - AnneB here - I found this website when Becke mentioned it last week on the Suzanne Brockmann(one of my favs) discussion. I too have the same addiction ...I hope they never have a 12 step program for us - LOL! My sister is so organized that this spring she made a list of all the new releases of authors that we both like from then until the end of the year, and she sent it to me.  Since her birthday was in June, I pre-ordered all the books (about 8 or 9 ) for her as her birthday  gift. Everyone I have mentioned this to has thought is was a great idea - so I thought I'd pass it along. Even though I would have bought her a gift card for B&N anyway, this was a little more personal.  Anyway, I glad I found this discussion 'cause I'm always looking for a new author.........Anne

Anne - so nice to see you here! Melanie moderates the board, but I'm like a remora on a shark -- she can't shake me off! (And isn't that a lovely image!)
What a fantastic gift idea! My kids always give me lists of books they want, but my sisters aren't big readers. One sister LOVES Lisa Jackson's books, so I always get Lisa's new releases for her. My project now is to get her to try other romantic suspense authors. She says she doesn't have a lot of time to read -- to me, that's like saying you don't have a lot of time to breathe!
I just finished a fun book by Victoria Dahl. I met her at National and she's a lot of fun (I have a picture of her wearing a fake halo).  I've got more of Victoria Dahl's books in my TBR pile, too:
