Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

Sean seems too down to earth to believe Lucy if she had just told him everything right at first.  He would have thought her "flaky" and dismissed her right away.  Lucy probably did the best thing and kept her special gift to herself.  It is a weird gift!! And with so many rules and exceptions to it.  Once Sean got to know her better and actually have been involved in seeing the actual results from her gift, then it was easier to accept her and her special gift.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

If you could build a business on one paranormal power what would the talent be and what kind of business would you build?

I would be happy if I had the ability to organize my time better.  But that's just my plain old human deficiency.  The idea of seeing into the future is intriguing but I think of all that you would see that you wouldn't want to.  I actually like Lucy's ability to find lost objects.  I think that would be extremely useful in day to day living.  No longer would I have to stop what I was doing to help my husband find the TV remote or his glasses.

What color do you think your Aura would be? Why?

I'm not an expert on this but my guess would be some kind of soft color like blue or mauve.  I'm pretty calm and easy going.

I planned to pop on and read but loved your questions, so had to stay.

I would love the power to hypnotize/mesmerize people. To be used only for good of course. I could do addiction recovery or help people break any kind of behavior habit- procrastination, quick temper etc.

My aura might be peach/apricot, calm sometimes but some nervous energy/worry at times.

I would want the ability to create happiness for others.  I could open a shop that delivers. You could call if you were having a bad day.

I would like my aura to look like a Monet Water-lily pond painting.

If the story was told from Sean's perspective it would be a different story. The players would be the same but it would be told from a different stand point. Better? Worse? I think just different....

I think that I would be a healer because I love to help people.  Though I would have a hard time charging for my services.

It would be Emerald Green with flecks of Gold.   Because that is the color that to me symbolizes Health and Happiness.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

If TRULY, MADLY were told from Sean's perspective, how do you think the story would change? Would Sean tell the same story?

It would be neat to hear the story from Sean's perspective, just to see how close it comes to Lucy's story. If Sean was the narrator, we'd be learning more about his line of work, his friends, his ex. It would be interesting to hear what was going on in his head when Lucy took him to dig up the body though. I'm glad Truly, Madly was told from Lucy's point of view because I loved reading about her family and her powers as well as theirs. Without that information, I feel we as readers would not understand the Valentines as well and may have questioned their powers.

Did your view of Rachel change after you read the whole book? Did you blame Elena for the person Rachel became?

Like a few others have said, I never really formed an opinion of Rachel at the beginning of the book. I was curious as to the cause of "her" murder, but other than that I never really gave much thought as to the kind of person she was when she was alive.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

Melanie- you've got me on this one. A paranormal ability, I can think of a few that I'd love but then to make a business that's ethical (although you didn't state it needed to be) rules out mindreading since it just doesn't seem right. I'd really love to have the ability to know what decision is the right one so not to make a huge mistake in life, then I could start a business helping people figure out what to do when they're not sure.

My aura would be mauve but I have no idea why it's just a feeling. I know nothing about the meaning of aura's but I've always felt I'm a mauve person lol.

This was a fun question, I really enjoyed thinking about it.

I guess it would be some sort of counseling business. I would like to have the ability to see inside a person's mind to find out what really troubles them. Then I could help them work through their problems so they could lead richer, fuller lives and I could guide them to a better, happier place.

Hmmm, although my favorite color is red, I think my aura would be yellow to inspire a sunny personality in everyone. I guess I will always be a bit idealistic...I want everyone to be happy. If I had that power, wouldn't it would be great?

Hmm, I think telekinesis would be a cool power to have. It would come in handy for an interior decorating business, moving the furniture around would be so much easier. :smileyhappy:

I have no idea what colors signifiy what, but if we're choosing, mine would be periwinkle.

I think I already have several paranormal powers; I know when the garbage has to go out; when the toilet paper needs replenishing; when the dishwasher is full, etc.

Have not figured a way to work these talents into a business though.

Not sure I actually have an "Aura". This is an interesting web-site though.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

I would have a detective agency that solves missing persons crimes.  My paranormal ability would be finding the missing person and, when they are found, touching them and "seeing" who was to blame.  I see families on the news who don't know where their loved ones are and if they are alive or dead.  It would provide closure for them to find out and, hopefully, some of the people would be found alive and well.

I don't know too much about auras, but I am an inituitive person so whichever color signifies that.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

[ Edited ]

I've been enjoying all your answers so much. I too wonder what the different colors in the aura signify, and also, how this would be proven. See, I'm a skeptic, too.

Let's talk a little about Lucy's friends. Her support system really added to the book for me, making it richer and contributing to the warm feeling of the story.

So, Em: what did you think about her? She is a successful doctor yet she feels trapped in her life and her career. What advice would you have given her? Em and Lucy are very different people yet they connect so well. Why do you think this is?

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

I would describe this book as a lighthearted romance with enough suspense thrown in to be interesting.  I liked that the dark mystery of the murder didn't overwhelm the rest of the story.

I think if Lucy had told Sean about her powers from the beginning, it would have taken away from the story.  And she learned more about herself as she struggled with how to tell him, which made for good character development.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

Lucy's friends seem wonderfully supportive of her and each other!  I think it is a shame that Em feels trapped as a doctor.  I think it would be difficult to change careers completely, but she is brave to take that leap.  I think that Em and Lucy connect so well, because of their long history with one another.  My sense of Em's relationship with her fiancee, though, is that we might be hearing more about it in later books.  From her friends' observations, he doesn't seem like the right man for her.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

Em seems to provide some perspective for Lucy. Lucy so wants to please her family and feels disappointed in her inability to see auras, but her family supports and believes in her; meanwhile, Em seems to live her life based on goals set by her family and still feels she can't live up to their expectations. I think Em's situation adds a new light to Lucy's, she may not be able to see auras, but her family has allowed her the independance she has needed to make her own decisions and mistakes.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, lighthearted read--it's a great meld of romantic suspense--nothing too gory!  Lucy Valentine and her family are people you want to read and learn about--much like the extended families in a couple other popular series, like the Plum books.

As a kid, I always wanted to have ESP!  What a great paranormal ability and could prove to be a benefit in several business models, looking for lost objects/people/pets, or a fall back of a kind of fortune telling!

I think the idea of auras was inspired move by Heather and not overdone yet in fiction!  I'm pretty mild-mannered, but I do like to learn and have adventures.  I think a beautiful orange aura, think a great sunrise, would be wonderful.

I think that Em and Lucy got along so well because opposites attract. I am 1 of 4 in my close group and all of us are different than the other. If we were the same, I think we would not hang out with one another. Each of us brings out the best in the others. I think that is what Lucy and her friends do for each other too.

I understand her feelings of being trapped in a life that her parents want her to have when she wants something else. I would tell her to live her life the way she wants too. At first I thought the guy Em is with was not a good guy, he seemed controlling. Yet when things got messy for Lucy, Em called him without thinking twice. I am thinking that maybe he is not liked because the girls feel he is taking Em away from them.

Re: Sneak Peak! TRULY, MADLY: General Discussion

I liked both Lucy's friends equally.

Em I think she tries to please people too much at the expense of her future and since I saw a spark between her and the cop I'm wondering if her fiance was to please her folks too.

My advice to her would be, and I know this sounds corny, be true to yourself and I think she's on the right track now.

I would love to have the power to know when someone's lying!  It would be a great gift in any business really.  I think I wouldn't have a business revolve around it, as much as I'd use it to my advantage to gain leverage in current business.

I think my aura would be bright purple with sparkles.  It's a calming, soothing color that is also very perky. Something that would make people smile :smileyvery-happy:
