What do you think are some of R&J's most lasting legacies outside of the play itself?

I'm interested in the fact that it continues to influence literature, books, and popular culture in so many ways.

For example, in young adult pop culture even within the past year, I've noticed a movie called Letters to Juliet and the popular novel and movie, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

What have you noticed?

Shakespeare may have written one of the first works to portray romantic love in a time of arranged marriages.  In some ways, he set the pattern for man-woman relationships in western society for years to come.
