SIDDHARTHA and Buddhism [ Edited ]

What is the relationship between Buddhism and SIDDHARTHA?

“Siddhartha” is not Buddhist Teaching; it is an attempt by a Westerner - a German writer - to find his own path. Hesse uses concepts he discovered in Buddhism and bends them to his own particular needs. When read as "an awakening" it is a good story but it should not be confused with the rituals and concepts of Buddhist practitioners. I found a website that explains this much better than I could and thought that some of you might be interested in it.
