Book vs. NOOK

Teens, I am just curious about how many people prefer the NOOK over a good plain old Book.

Why do you like the NOOK? Why do you not like the NOOK?

Me, personally, I enjoy the Book. I tend to read most of the day, and I'm constantly having to stop and start throughout my day, and a battery just wouldn't last for more than a few hours with me. Also I have a 1yr old, and if she got a hold of a NOOK it would be history in a few short minutes. Also, the companies are constantly re-inviting their products to make them faster and better. So by the time I even got a NOOK, by the next week or so, they would have came out with another product that out-dates the old one.

So again, Book or NOOK?

And it doesn't just have to be a NOOK, what are you currently using right now?

I honestly can say that I thoroughly enjoy reading my Nook over books.  I have had my Nook for 2 years now, and have accumulated over 200 books; just think of all the room a book would take up; especially if the books range from 200-700 pages?

You can get free books on your Nook (their yours to keep and you don't have to invest in a bookshelf).  Think of how many trees are being saves by owning a Nook.

I also love the idea of going to my library via the website, and checking out books to read (without even stepping foot into the library).  Not all books in the library are converted to e-books, but quite a few of them are.

Another reason to love the Nook is once you are finished reading the book, you can archive the book or put it in a bookshelf you created; for later reading.

I prefer books. Paper-and-print books.

I have a Kindle (Is that a bad thing when it's not BN bought? If so, I'll just say it's a Nook) but I can't get into it the same way as I can a book. Sure I can read it okay and it's pretty functional and is great for traveling, but it's just not the same. I'd put things like cookbooks and informational texts on it but I'm not able to read things that interest me when I'm holding a light, thin piece of technology. It takes away the mystery and prestige of books, if you ask me.  

Therefore, I stick with books.

Definitely Nook over books. I must admit, before I got my Nook I was a little iffy about it because I thought I would prefer to hold an actual book. I love looking at the way book covers are designed especially because I keep all of my books on a book shelf. Once I got my Nook I quickly changed my mind. I absolutely love it. For some reason the screen seems to keep my attention longer and I like that everything is conveniently in the palm of my hand. Another good thing about a Nook over a book is what another reviewer pointed out, they have tons of free nook books. You sometimes have to look through them for awhile to find something worth reading but it's still nice to have. Also, they have a lot of bargin nook books that are from .99 cent to $5 that are regular price for an actual book. My library is full of these and they actually have a really good selection of them. You mentioned that you read all throughout the day and a battery would not work for you, I can't say how long it would last if you were using it all day, but I work graveyard shift (Pm-Am) and have LOTS of free time so I often read about 6-7 of those hours and if I start with a full battery it usually stays charged for a few days (that's if you keep the wifi off). There have been a few night's when I've used it to watch Netflix for about 7 hours and usually at the end of those 7 hours it does have to be recharged. You can also borrow books from friends, I think this is a nice feature because with actually books this would really only work if you were close enough to someone to give them the book, with Nook you can borrow with someone even if they live hours away from you. I know this is a bit long but hopefully if you are trying to decide on if you should get a Nook or not this will help you

Personally, I prefer a book. Just a paper-and-print book. Don't get me wrong, I love my NOOK, and e-books are great for when I'm traveling or otherwise don't have room to carry actual books, but there's simply something less substantial about reading books on a NOOK than reading an actual book, there's just something lacking when I read an e-book...

thanks so much with all the info about what you enjoy. i still havnt gotten a nook or kindle yet. my friend has a kindle and she let me look at it and i'll admit i do like the way it feel and the way the screen doesnt have a glare in the sun. so free books? are any of them any good? and how do you share a your books? do you get to keep them or something?
