Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: Do you judge a book by its cover??????

I pretty much choose books based on covers. If I like the cover, I'll read a couple of pages in the store before I purchase it. While snooping for books online, I read the reviews....but I get attracted by the cover first.

Re: Do you judge a book by its cover??????

As much as that is a bad thing to do, if the cover doesn't draw me in and make me wasn't to read the book I won't preview or read it's description.

Yes, because if you don't know how the book is written you may not like the style and it's a hastle to come back to the store and return your brand new book.

Re: Do you judge a book by its cover??????

I tend to buy a book that has a good physical appearance,

hard cover, cover design, ect.

But I have some books that are torn, worn out, and raggedy but thoses are the BEST!!!!

Re: Do you judge a book by its cover??????

Haha(:

i mean the book cover sorta draws me in, or if the title is just catchy to me, but my ultimate decision is what it's about or if the book itself just seems interesting

Re: Do you judge a book by its cover??????

yeah I agree. Even if the book has the best cover I have ever seen, if the synapse doesnt draw me in then I wont get it. but it is the cover that first catches your eye that makes you want to read the synapse

I do get attracted to some of the books I based on the cover. i first read the summary before I actually decide if I want to read it.

So which smells better,

new books, or old books?

i think older ones, because new ones smell great and all, but they still need to get that character smell haha
