Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: Fallen by Lauren Kate

i understand that. sometimes im that way too.

but you dont think that some books are a little heartwarming to the fact that a great catch of a guy could find a plain jane attractive?

and if you dont like the mythycal magical crature the guy turns out to be, then why dpnt you read a different genre of books, or a different type?

i for one cant stand vampires, but i like the whole fallen angel speil...

im a cynic when it comes to reality, but i read book soemtimes to escape...and i cant escape if im analyzing the characters every move...altho there are those books that are just so cheap and cliche...

Re: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Ya I do find that a bit heartwarming but most of the time there's no foundation for the relationship at all.  Especially in "magical" type romance lines.  I just find it all horribly cliche.  What I do like is when like in Evernight, the mc is a vampire and the love interest a vampire hunter but they still love each other for who they are not WHAT they are.  That's the kind of stuff I like.  I mean why does a "plain jane" girl have to have an incredibly hot guy?  Isn't a regular old guy who loves her for herself enough?  Fantasy isn't reality.  That's what drives me insane.

I have moved onto different genres.  Mostly adult fic.  The character development is way better and the love stories don't take up the entire plot.  The relationships are actually founded on something!  So it makes it all the more sweet and interesting.

Re: Fallen by Lauren Kate

ok i get that...

and i agree that a perso should not love somebody else for WHAT they are, like a vampire or other mythical creature, but for what.

and i also read like 97 percent adult, cause i believe that they are better, plotted  guess?

but, idk...

i understand where youre coming from

it is important to have a base for the relaionship, not just a fascination

and sometimes the most heartwarming story of all( sorry for mushy, but) is when two ordinary people fall depply in love...

Re: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Haha.  EXACTLY!  I've definitely progressed into Adult novels now.  I don't even think about YA fic all that much anymore, except for new original sounding releases.  I'm sooooo over Paranormal fic though.  Scott Westerfeld and John Green are still amazing however and I will continue to put money into their pockets as long as they keep writing books.  :smileyhappy:

What adult fic have you read? Or like to read?  Any good suggestions?  Haha

Re: Fallen by Lauren Kate

I read this one historical fic book, Labrynth by Kate Mosse.  It would have been a wonderful book if it hadn't been the extremely pornographic sex scenes.  I mean there are just some things I do NOT want to know about what people do when they are having sex.  TMI.  Otherwise though it was decent.  Haha.

I'm going to have to read some thriller novels. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Fallen by Lauren Kate

So... hello, I just finished this book and I am soooo confused. At first I read, loved it, and thought I understood everything until I got to the epilogue.  Now I feel like I'm lost. Whose the real bad guy and was Daniel lying about a lot of things? Is he the good guy or the bad guy? Please be patient with me and explain?????????
