Philip Pullmans His Dark Materials trilogy is awesome! and also City of the Beasts (trilogy) By Isabel Allende is pretty good also you should give it a try.
James Patterson's Womens Murder Club is also pretty good and will surely make you loose sleep and stay lots of nights up reading them , I would say almost everything I have read by James Patterson has turned up to be good!
Karl Theodor Jaspers

I suggest Frozen Fire, The forest of hands and teeth, or the tommorrow code. They are my favorite books!
They are rather thrilling. The forest of hands and teeth has a bit of romance to it. Tommorrow code is very science based. And Frozen fire is.... well different
