Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: New Books for the New Year 2008

Perks of being a Wallower and Catcher in the Rye or two my favorite books in the whole world. so as someone whose read 2 out of three of those I'll give you some suggestions of books that are (if not similar ALMOST as good)
Brave New Girl -- (I cant remember hte auther and its somewhere in the back of my bookshelf right now...) its the equivalent of Perks only from a girls perspective :smileyhappy::smileyhappy::smileyhappy:
Lets get Lost by Sarra Manning...totally different but...I promise you its worth it. I've read it (and cried every single time) at least five times.
Looking For Alaska by John Green. one word for this book: amazing.

try those three and I promise you wont be dissapointed (although you might want to be a girl to read Lets get Lost...I'm not sure if you are or not)

hope I helped and if you read them and like them and you want more suggestions just message me :smileyhappy:
So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.

Re: New Books for the New Year 2008

I recently finished The Absolutely True Diary of A Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie. The story is about Arnold Spirit, a teenage Indian boy living on a reservation in Washington state. He decides to go to an all-white school that is off the reservation. This book alternately made me laugh and cry.

Re: New Books for the New Year 2008

What is the perks of being a wallflower about?
"It wasn't Gran who called my name, and we both turned to see the addition to our small reunion. I didn't have to look to know who it was; this is a voice I would know anywhere-know, and respond to, whether I was awake or asleep..or even dead, I'd bet. the voice I'd walk through fire for-or, less dramatically, slosh everyday through the cold and endless rain for. Edward."
