First off, I'll begin by saying that I am a fan of the series. Although there are aspects of the books that could be improved upon, for the most part I thought they were interesting, light reads and I highly enjoyed them.
The movies however, have not been up to that par. The first I found utterly hilarious, and not in a positive way. There were far too many loose ends and poor acting jobs for it to be a decent movie. That's not to say I didn't like it - I just like it for its unintended hilarity. New Moon on the other hand was a tad better than Twilight. This is not a good thing, though. You see, I was looking forward to another horrid film, that I could ridicule and mock, while all the while having a great time with friends. Instead, I was a bit disappointed to find that this movie lacked all of the unintended humor that made the first worth watching. So while New Moon sported improved graphics and a higher quality of acting (obviously a great deal more effort was involved in this one than the first), this ultimately diminished the effect of the series' films.
I'm not sure what to expect for Eclipse. If this trend continues, then perhaps it will be even better than the second. But if that is the case, then it must rise above that imaginary "subpar" line and become a decent movie, or else not only will it be considered a poor film, it will also lack that unique comedic quirk that made Twilight tolerable.
I think the book will always be better than the movie but i hope new moon is better than twilight b/c twilight had little perpeation it seems. Please no one mess the moive for me! It sound that is 50/50 good and bad.
