Re: Randomness!!

Zoey -  I think 11:11 is a very lucky time, I was also born in the 11th House (Aquarius) and I have an 11 in my social secuty number, one of my credit card numbers and I've had it for lots of other numbers in my life too, so I really love the number.

Congratulations on making it to the leaderboard for laurels on Teen Reads!  You deserve it, I usually like most of your posts.  :smileytongue:  I hope that sometime soon the whole leaderboard can be current posters.  I don't even know those other people, they must've gotten older and switched to Adult Reads, lol!  It doesn't matter how old I get though, I'll always love YA books, they're my favorite!

Sobby -  Welcome to the Teen Reads boards at B&N, we're all nice around here and we really like reading, so you'll fit right in!  And that's ok if you don't hang out with Harry Potter fans, we can be your new Harry Potter Fan friends!  :smileyvery-happy:

It's ranked by the amount of laurels a poster has for that board.  So, your total laurels might be higher than your Teen Reads laurels and perhaps that is why it's confusing.  I hope that answered your question!

Re: Randomness!!

Sandra- I agree it's a very lucky number! And wow thats a lot of 11's you havew going on there! And thanks =) It means a lot! Congrats on being on the leaderboard for laurels also. I usually like most of your posts also =) And yea I think it would be pretty great if all current posters would be on the leaderboards. I think most of them just left B&N altogether =( I did like some of them though, the ones I remember at least, they were pretty great =) And I think I'll always love YA books too! They are pretty great!!

So I have just thought of some more random things about myself.... I don't like pop all the carbonation is just gross Blech!! I have glasses but really really wish I could just wear contacts!! I really want to make a difference in the world but who knows how?? I am still reading I am number four not that its a bad book but because of how much homework I have had lately!! I love Grey's Anatomy, Hawaii Five-O, American Idol and other shows my mom watches Lol. I love unique people =) (Like all of you guys!) I have the strangest but coolest dreams at times! I should be doing my homework right now but I'm not =) I love love love taking naps especially on my extemely big comfy couch!! This summer my goal is to read almost one book per day and cut down my huge TBR list. I sometimes wish I was tanner than my pale pale self but then always tell myself I like the way I am =) Sometimes I wish some people were different but then I realize that they aren't. Hmmm well thats all I can think of for now =)

Re: Randomness!!

ZoeyRedBird- yea when i was in middle school i decided i wanted to keep all of my books so i started buying loads of them. everytime my friends come over they say "really more books?". I'm really impatient too so i cant go to the library if my books are taken out or are not there yet. lol.

REXx- omg thats why i freakin stayed!! i sat at my table alone waiting for my friends and there were seinors and juinors and a whole load of more sophomores (usually theres only a few sophmores and freshman) just standing in the corners all excited. then my friends came in and were like "ugh theres going to be a food fight i dont want to get my clothes all dirty!" and me wanting my dream to come true begged them to stay and eventually they sat down. then a juinor (?) got up on the table and yelled food fight and it was just crazy. they planned it, after the principal was so mad that no one ratted them out. but theres cameras everywhere so they ended up getting caught. quite dumb. they should have put on all black or something.

and my friends think im crazy i've read harry potter like ten times since third grade and around 8 times in the last year. idk why. i need more good fantasy or jk rowling just needs to write another book.

Re: Randomness!!

[ Edited ]

Thanks so much everyone!  *does a celebration dance*

Sobby -  I've read the Harry Potter series loads of times too, I would even be reading one while watching another one of them on DVD to fall asleep haha.  I am really hoping the collection is available on my NookColor sometime so I can re-read them a few more times.

I'm basically over books now though.  It's really hard to read like that once you get used to a NookColor.  Books are so awkward, heavy, hard to maneuver, easy to damage, etc. so I don't have as much fun reading them anymore.  I can read a book in a few hours on my NookColor, but a real book would take me weeks now I bet.  I got a new one (the last in a series that isn't on the NookColor yet... or maybe ever) and I've only been able to get through one chapter in the two weeks I've had it.

I wish I could recommend some great series or book that provided the same atmosphere or fun that the Harry Potter series gave me, but I can't.  There is nothing that compares, even more writing from J.K. Rowling (have you read The Tales of Beedle the Bard (Harry Potter Series)?  Ick, definitely not worth the prices being charged).

The only other fantasy series that enveloped me and transported me entirely to another world was The Lord of the Rings series.  I know almost everyone has seen the movies, but if you've never read the books, they're definitely worth picking up.  There are so many differences between the books and the movies that I actually hated the movies.  I missed so many of my favorite characters or moments that they decided to cut out and the actors and actresses were nothing like the characters I'd envisioned for years.  I really wish they would've used unknown talent and then I could've believed it more perhaps.  Anyway, if you're looking for an epic fantasy with highs and lows to keep you guessing, lovable characters you want as friends and an interesting world that could never be, I'd definitely recommend them.  They're still not Harry Potter, but they're similar in the way it makes you feel to read them.

Re: Randomness!!

Sobby- I did the same thing!! Just maybe not as many books as you!! And yea I don't like waiting for books at the library but I've been trying to be more patient lately!! =) And also I don't really like getting books from the library because sometimes they are dirty or torn up and I'm kind of germaphobic!!!

Jake- I think that's everyone's favorite time!!!.... NOT!! lol

Re: Randomness!!

Sobby: If you loved HP, you will probably like the Immortal Instruments Series by Clarissa Clare. Its definitely not as good as HP, but truthfully what is?

My friend's boyfriend who isn't exactly a reader happened to be on the subjects of book the other night. He was saying something. Then he was saying how poorly written HP was and how he really dislikes J.K. Rowling....It took all I had not to z-snap at him and slap him simultaneously. He also said said the movies are better than the books... =0 but its okay because his brother is "one of us" =)
