Teen historical fiction books???

For summer my school is requiring us to read a historical fiction and sports biography. They both have to be under 200 pages. Can you tell me good teen books about the both of these???

Thanks!

Re: Teen historical fiction books???

I presume that you mean two books, no?  A historical fiction book as well as a sports biography.  It's going to be rather difficult to find some under two hundred pages, but I'm searching some at the moment...

Child of Dandelions

It's 214 pages and tells the story of Sabine and the expulsion of Indians from Uganda in 1972.  I actually did a Independant Study Unit on this book in my English course last year and found it incredibly interesting.  It is also written in the voice of a fifteen year old girl, so very much teen appropriate.

When it comes to sports books though, I'm completely clueless.  Maybe try a famous athlete (Alexander Ovechkin, Michael Phelps, etc).  Tiger Woods is rather taboo at the moment, so maybe a biography on him would be good.  I searched a few and this one (Tiger) was most current.

I hope this was helpful, but I'm pretty sure both of them were over two hundred pages.  Sorry.

Re: Teen historical fiction books???

Awww... why do they have to be so short??

Anyway, there is an old thread-thingy(I still don't know what they are called LOL) in teen reads that is dedicated solely to "Historical Fiction." If you type in "historical fiction" in the search-thingy, you will get a lot of thread-things about this genre. I made one a while ago. If you can't find it, tell me and I'll repost the list. I haven't read many, if any, sports biography books, so I can't help. :/

Re: Teen historical fiction books???

Well, I honestly don't know about the page counts for any of these, but here are my suggestions.

Historical fiction:

A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

Cracker! The Best Dog in Vietnam by Cynthia Kadohata

I Am the Great Horse by Michael Morpurgo

anything by Ann Rinaldi

Sports biography:

It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong

When the Game Was Ours by Larry Bird & Magic Johnson

Into the Wild or Into Thin Air both by Jon Krakauer

The Blind Side by Michael Lewis
