I think you hit the nail right on the head! A good book is how we experience other people's thoughts, feelings, adventures, etc. A million years ago, we old fogies used to say we liked a book (or whatever) if we could "relate to" it (or "identify with" it). It's exactly the way you just said: when you read a good book, you FEEL something!

Yeah I get that too. Sometimes I'll just be up in my room, with no television on or music blasting through my headphones, and read one hundred pages of something, without looking up at the clock. I love that rush I experience when I travel deeper and deeper into the story and who doesn't like that feeling of satisfaction when you finish a great tale? When I read a book, I find some way to relate to the main character and really get a feel for them, like what if they were sitting right next to me? I see the book in my mind and sometimes, I feel like it's my own story in a way. That's the things about books---they can take you anywhere in the world and get you hooked----without you ever having to leave your room. It rides on imagination. I love reading~

Exactly! I can kknow a song im listening to, then next thing i know its been 3 hours, and i have been so deep in the story, as u put it, that i didnt even realize. it only felt like couple minutes. That is one of the best feelings in the world. and then when i finish the book, i kinda tear up and sigh and wish i could have a little more of the happy ever after to read, or think about my favorite parts

I can totally agree with you!
There is nothing more precious as getting lost in a world away from the normal grind of every day life. You know you are really addicted when you do nothing but think of how much time you have to wait until you can continue reading.
Just to give a little of what I mean....I read Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer in 1 day. As you know that book is by no means small. I literally could not put the book down. I started it in the afternoon and finished the next morning. The only time I put it down was when I took a bathroom break (of course you have to put the book down then). I had a headache that next day, but it was well worth it.
Of course there are a lot of authors out there, and a lot of the books are great reads, but it is those who capture your attention from the beginning of the book and keep you held hostage until the very end of the book; those are AMAZING authors. You finish the book with mixed emotions....the book is done, now what? Of course you continue on.....with the next book and the process starts again.
The attributes of an Amazing or addicting book are as follows:
The author must caputure your attention
The characters must be well thought out- people whom you can love, hate, root for, etc. If you can relate to the characters; it makes it more enjoyable.
The story must have a good plot. It has to be interesting throughout the book.
The author must be able to paint a picture (but not go overboard) with the characters and story (make it like you are there in the book....seeing what is happening). It should not distract from the story but enhance it.
The ending should either wrap up the book or leave you wanting more for the next release. Sometimes you have to wait for a long time if there is a next book, so you have to be patient.
I have only found a few Authors that have met that criteria for me:
J. K. Rowling
Stephanie Meyer
J. K. Ward
Ellen Schreiber
Rachelle Mead
