I've always been worried that I would grow out of my love for YA books, but it's stayed with me.
I'm 17 now, but I've always loved reading/writing YA Historical Fiction.
There's a multitude of reasons for it--however I despise the size 16 font that a large number of them seem to come in.
Something about the romance is purer in a YA book; there is no compulsion for a sex scene somewhere in the novel. Some adult writers become careless and tacky in the way they phrase things in their books, and I think that YA novelists only include it if the book truly would benefit from it. The Amber Spyglass had one of the truest, most beautiful love scenes at the end of it that I've ever read (and I've read a lot of books)--and it was between two preteens.
