Twilight vs The Vampire Diaries

what do you think about these two series... i read twilight and i was addicted and obsessed.. now im reading the vampire diarieas and im kinda feeling the same thingi felt with twilight... i love them both but which on is your favorite and why???

That's probably because they are very much alike...an average girl that a vampire has a very strong thirst for, but doesn't want to hurt her, so he dates her and must protect her against other evil vampires...he chooses not to harm people and all is right with the world

don't get me wrong I love both of thes series' but I read twilight and I was obsessed, then I picked up vampire diaries and said, "wow...could this be any more like twilight?"  it really disappointed me to see that two books with almost identical stories were published

i know its true the books are really alike but you have to think about the difference in the character's personality.. Elena is, in my opinion wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy stronger than bella in most of the senses.. and then Stefan is not as sad and depressing as edward.. i loved the two books and yeah i was also surprised to how much they are alike but the vampire diaries put more emphazis in others characters such as bonnie, meridith, matt, the new teacher, katherine.. and Elena is turned into a vampire in the secong book (and there are 4 of them).... but i cannot really say which one was better at this time... lol

The Vampire Diaries were written in 1991, way before Twilight.

Yeah, The Vampire Diaries were orignally published in 1991. Twilight was published I think in 2006. I think The Vampire Diaries got more public after Twilight was published because of the vampire craze that came after people read Twilight.

 I choose The Vampire Diaries! Why? Well, 1. I LOVE the books! 2. L.J. Smith is defintly one of my favorite authors! So, that's got to help! Ha ha!

I despise it when people say that The Vampire Diaries are a 'knock off' of Twilight, when in fact, The Vampire Diaries were out before Twilight.

Both books were similar in many ways -with the classic story of a vampire falls in love with a human and vice versa- however, there were many differences as well. Both the stories have a different tone where as The vampire Diaries is more of a serious and mature love between Stefan and Elena, and where as Twilight is more of a teen romance which includes a serious and mature love in a playful manor. 

In my personal opinion, I love Twilight more because of the perfect character Edward Cullen, also because of his pain...it just feels so real! 

However, I want to pose a new question: If there was a new vampire love series out, that has the similar tone of these two series, however with a different series of events, would any of you be interested?

Personally I liked The Vampire Diaries better because there is more suspense and more interesting and doesn't just focus on two specific characters and it's not written in the frist person so get all kinds of different angles.

The Vampire Diaries and Twilight are not the same book. Yeah I'll give you that they are the same story but still Elena and Stefan were both vampires and then Elena was an angel then human again. There is a love triangle but its between Damon(Vampire), Stefan(Vampire) and Elena(Human, for now). There are no werewolves in the story only demons.

I really did love twilight I read it before all the hype and I couldn't wait to see what happened but I think it ended to quickly.

i only gt into vamp books becuz of vampire diaries, i noticed it in the library a few years ago, and thought why not from thern on my whole preception of vamps had changed and vamps were these hot men to die for, damon and bonnie stood out for me stright away i didnt fel much for elena she wasnt my typa girl stook up and selsish, whilt stephen only seemd to care about only her to, whilst bonnie seemd alot like me, and us girls out there, shy, loyal, trusting, and then there was damon, this mysterious dark vampire, who was just gorgeous, i loved it, a year later i noticed twilight and i can see the similarites, i liove both but vampire diaries is still my fav, becuz it was what inspired me to read vamp books, wthout it i wudnt have read twilight, , so yh gota love me some vampire diaires

im a fan of both the vampire diaries and twilight  but  im 100 % a fan of the vampire diaries because i love stefan and i love the love connection between elena and stefan and i hope that the vampire diaries comes on the cw

I think Vampire Diaries is better than Twilight i have read Twilight and feel like i know wat is gonna happen next but in Vampire Diaries you like never know cuz in the 3rd book (Vampire Diaries) Stefan leaves and he is not back at the end of the book unlike New Moon so I am in love with100% Vampire Diaries .

Im more into Twilight because I think I can relate a little to it better-about liking somone who looks brooding and that ignores you. But than again I like Vampire Diaries now. Not as much. Movie and tv show wise i think Vampire diaries did a better job than twilight 'cause some things to me were a little off. And the show keeps you on edge. Plus from my perspective twiligh cannot not last as long as vampire diaries because it sorta makes you wonder about whats going to happen and twilight just gets right to the point staright forward. But i still like it

the vamp diaries was defiantly a better book its keeps more to the old vampire lore than twilight does and plus it was written before it so it was defiantly better in most parts than twilight

I disagree with what you said about movies and TV.  I think twilight beats Vampire Diaries from that aspect.  I have read both and the characters are amazing.  In the Vampire Diaries television show, the characters look nothing like they were described in the book.  You would think they could at least give Elena blonde hair!  Plus Stefan and Damon don't even look alike.  Twilight stayed true to its characters, while I don't believe Vampire Diaries did.

well i have to disagree with you thepageturner there becuase although im a twilight fan, vampire diaries beats it anyday,  since vampire diaires was made first i jus feel its more origional and plus the twilight movie sucked really bad weather people wanna admit it or not, whilst the vampire tv series ill admit i had my doubts like everyone else when i saw the trailer and was like wtf? bonie is black, elena is brunnete and nice? and so and so is blond etc etc but as i loked over the trailer i found myself warming to the charcters , maybe if the actors played there role well they could actually pull this of, im now addicted to the series  and love it, which i thought would never be the case and truthfully i never saw stephan and damon dark haired, for me stephan was the blond whislt damon was  dark haired with the whole mysterious thing and sarcasm, so for me damon and stephan are perfect infact its like damon really been brought to life on screen i love his humour and sarcasm him and bonnie were always my favs and im also warming to bonnie now and im just hoping they start to bring bonnies story on the series in more deph since ive alwasy been a fan of hers, but then again this is just my opinion

i love bot, but if i had to choose, i would pick twilight becasue for some odd reason i can understand Bella's pont of view better than Elana's in the vampire diaries.
