Victorian Era

I love books set in the Victorian Era. Everything about it is so interesting to me. I was wondering if you guys know of any Young Adult books set in the Victorian Era. I've already read the Gemma Doyle Trilogy and the Luxe series (sorry to shoot down the most obvious ones.) Any ideas?

Re: Victorian Era

I just started reading The Duchess by Amanda Foreman which is about Lady Georgiana Spencer who lived during the Victorian Era. It's more of a history book about her and it's not really young adult, but it's been pretty interesting so far. It was also made into a movie recently with Keira Knightley.

Re: Victorian Era

Not sure...but I think the Sally Lockhart Series by Phillip Pullman is set in Victorian England.

They are: The Ruby in the Smoke, The Shadow in the North, The Tiger in the Well, and The Tin Princess

Omg i've been looking for books from this era too!!!!! I LOVED Luxe and Libba Bray's books but now i'm kind of stuck. I hated countess below stairs but loved The Morning Gift. I liked The Other Boelyn Girl---the books much better than the movie.

Re: Victorian Era

Well book wise I know some Eva Ibbotson are really good reads historically wise. But Victorian I really don't know any good ones I know some really good civil war books though, there's this one, Firehorse it's sortive middle school level but it's right after the civil war, and a really good read. Other than that I would check out some Ann Rinaldi  books. They are amazing historic books.

I love the Sally Lockhart Mysteries by Philip Pullman, which are set in Victorian England. Ditto with the Luxe books and Gemma Doyle Trilogy.

Re: Victorian Era

Thanks guys for all of the suggestions :smileyhappy: Right now I am reading the third Luxe book, Envy. So I'm getting my fill on the Victorian Era, but when I'm done I will take your suggestions in. Thanks!

Re: Victorian Era

Although before the Victorean Era, Jane Austen books are good as long as you can get past the old language. Her books are also easy to relate to, which just goes to show how little the world has really changed.

Re: Victorian Era

The Witch of Blackbird Pond. It's set a few years before the Revolutionary War. It's about a rich girl who lived in Barbados and has to move to the New World and live with family she never met. She starts hanging out with an old lady people in think is a witch and the girl starts being called a witch. I won't say anymore but it's AWESTHOM!

Re: Victorian Era

Meg Cabot has two books they're not as deep and dark as the Gemma Doyle trilogy  but they're set in the Victorian era. 'Nicola and the Viscount ' and 'Victoria and the Rogue' also 'Emma' by Jane Austen

Re: Victorian Era

Although I have not read it yet, The Season by Sarah MacLean looks very promising and is set in the Victorian era in London. It has romance and mystery. Hope I helped!

Re: Victorian Era

Omgosh, I TOTALLY agree! I lovveee Victorian set books. The Luxe and Gemma Doyle series are ammazzinngggg. I love how even though the problems they faced were a little different than our own in this modern time, it's still the same universal ones: family, love, and friendships. It's not really set exactly in the Victorian era but it does allude to it, the Blue Bloods series. I'll look at my books at home to see if I can come up with anymore and get back to you! Hey, do you know if there will be a 4th Gemma Doyle book? I lovee the books and there's supposed to be one!
