Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: What NOT to read

Don't read "Anatomy of a Boyfriend." It has LOTS of sexual stuff in it (although the author does give fair warning in the book flap, which is good), and if you have a childhood innocence (like I had before reading the book) you might just want to skip by the very weird cover art and look for a more interesting, and less sexual, book such as "Just Listen" by Sarah Dessen or "Don't Die, My Love" by Lurlene McDaniel.

Hey Stephen, I could give you fifty reasons why I should be the one you chose. Those other girls, well, they're beautiful, but would they write a song for you?

I love to read and write poetry/lyrics and short stories. The layers of music fascinates me. Someday, I want to do movie soundtracks, maybe, or teach. The book to movie transition fascinates me to the extreme. I've been mesmorized by the way Harry Potter and Twilight and so many others have been brought into movies is something I think I would love to do.

Re: What NOT to read

I disagree with this analysis of Loser, it is a brilliant explanation of how kids especially with Ausbergers act. And a great lesson for kids on learning empathy for kids they would not deem worth their time.

Read it a again, and then pick up stargirl.

If you want to avoid a Spinelli, avoid, "Who ran my underwear up the flagpole." it's just okay.

Re: What NOT to read

I don't own the book anymore, after reading it I gave it away. For me nothing really happened and climax was boring. Donald Zinkoff was for me not a memorable protagonist. I like slow and quiet books but this was just pointless.

But i will try Stargirl.

Here is two books that i just read and our fantastic and way better then Loser.

Rules by Cynthia Lord

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon

Re: What NOT to read

OMG OMG OMG Mara daughter of the Nile. The WORST book I have EVER read. Had to read it in 5th grade, and now my entire class refers to it as "the M word" Terrible...The number of trees that book wasted. It's seriously toilet paper with words on it.

I loved that book. It was really good in my opinion.

And SERIES I would say not to read is the Cirque Du Freak series. I don't know why so many people liked it. It was horribly written in my opinion. I would list more reasons not to read, but I'm too lazy. If you want to read a Darren Shan book, pick up te Demonata series.

Re: What NOT to read

All Will Be Revealed - good in theory....but it was rather a let down. I picked it up for something dark...found a novel about a million heir pornographer and his depressed girlfriend who can supposedly "sight" people's loved ones. wow. The plot's awful. Overrated by all means.

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to books. Or I'm decent at picking ones I will enjoy. Though I'm sorry...

Little Women
Eragon

Overrated. Boring and...terribly written.

Ha. I just insulted Eragon on a board swarming with fourteen yr olds! I'll - be - eaten - alive!

Kneeknock [something], I don't remember what it's called. It was terrible. Something about some "monster" all the villagers were scared of.

Re: What NOT to read

I really liked "To Kill A Mockingbird"! It's a classic! I know that sometimes some schools require the students to read it. I read it once when I was younger, and hated it! But just recently picked To Kill A Mockingbird up and LOVED it! Don't give up.
