Many of these authors had new books come out in 2009, but some of these series have been around for decades.
I'd have a hard time (make that impossible) putting together a top ten list, but here are some I follow and recommend:
The Naming of the Dead (Inspector John Rebus Series #16)
The Private Patient (Adam Dalgliesh Series #14)
206 Bones (Temperance Brennan Series #12)
The Language of Bees (Mary Russell Series #9)
Tea Time for the Traditionally Built (The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series #10)
Aunt Dimity Slays the Dragon (Aunt Dimity Series #14)
Blood Game (Eve Duncan Series #8)
Shakespeare's Counselor (Lily Bard Series#5)
Long Lost (Myron Bolitar Series #9)
Nine Dragons (Harry Bosch Series #15)
The Winds of Change (Richard Jury Series #19)
All the Colors of Darkness (Inspector Alan Banks Series #18)
Fire and Ice (Joanna Brady Series #14)
Set Sail for Murder (Henrie O Series #7)
Gone Tomorrow (Jack Reacher Series #13)
The Professional (Spenser Series #37)
Crawlspace (Home Repair Is Homicide Series #13)
A Matter of Justice (Inspector Ian Rutledge Series #11)
Necessary as Blood (Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James Series #13)
The Monster in the Box (Chief Inspector Wexford Series #22)

I've left a lot out, and there are still more I haven't read yet (I have an entire bookcase filled with mysteries waiting to be read). Which are your favorite continuing series in mystery, romantic suspense and/or thrillers?

Hmm this new board is a bit fun, but I have a question. Should our posts only contain stuff that came out in 2009? Like favorite series that got a new release in 2009? Or more of what we discovered and came to love in 2009?

Hi Tigger - While these series started in the past, I tried to stick to series that had new releases in 2009. I might have gotten carried away, though -- you know that happens a lot!

Hi Becke, Thank you for the list.
I've read 10 favorites from this wonderful list... and am piling the ones I haven't on my TBR list.
Did you mention that Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone's "Undertow" was also out? What is it, # 21?
I dread the time when she reaches "Z"....
