Among the many great new features available with the NOOK Color v1.2 firmware update is a collection of fantastic apps that will keep you entertained, engaged, connected and organized. Just as we currently bring you a variety of book recommendations for every type of reader, in our new App Buzz feature on Unbound, we’ll be spotlighting apps that we think you’ll want to know more about.

One of the most fun and engaging new apps available for NOOK Color is Aces Bubble Popper--available exclusively on NOOK Color for a limited time. The concept is quite simple but brilliant: attempt to burst colored bubbles in a fast-paced game reminiscent of Tetris and Bejeweled. Players can choose from a classic mode or the race-against-the-clock “Timed” mode. Plus you can polish your skills in three bonus mini-games available in the “Super Action” mode. Watch this video for a brief app tour highlighting the features of this entertaining app.

If you want your app store to suceed, you need to take a page from Amazon's book. A free daily app will get people used to using your storefront and provide visability & interest in the apps therein. Otherwise, it's just one more place I have to buy my apps. I'm NOT buying Angry Birds three times. It isn't going to happen.

I need a place that recommends apps and gives feedback.  I know you are just getting started but I can't determine which apps I would like w/o more information.

Sure hope they don't forget about those of us with Nook non-color.   I feel like we've been forgotten about... no new features for us just because we don't have the Nook Color.   We're like the step-children now.

Hi VBarco,

If you tap on the app logo in the shop, you'll find an overview, customer reviews, and lots of other helpful information for each app. Also, this new Unbound feature, App Buzz, will continue to tell you more about highlighted apps!

Best,

Jeremy

Is there a way to see this video on my nook color. This is for NC users yet it seems we can't view it.

@bookhuffer - I have both the original nook 3G Wi-Fi and the Nook Color and I honestly can't see anything missing in the e-ink version except for the social media sharing options like "Post Status Update". What's missing that you want? And please don't say Angry Birds because that's probably better in concept than in application. No touch screen = Angry Users, neverminding those Angry Birds. =)

Why did B&N start with such a limited number and range of apps? I use an iPhone, so I dont know what the Droid world has. However, I sure thought it is large and varied. Gad, how many Dr. Cat In The Grinche's Who apps do we need? The one find the objects game app is out dated and pretty bad to start with. Also, why only the one Angry Birds App? Given the movie, Rio should be a no brainer offering. Given its failure to use color properly, the Sudoku app should be an offering for the "old" nook. It falls far short of using the potential of the nook color, or being much better than the version that comes with any nook.

Love all the new App, can't wait for more!

This app is currently priced at $2.99

I agree with Bookhuffer's comment.  For people who have the original Nook, we're getting left behind.  B & N should offer us something.....please.

I think the eink is a better reader, color is a better tablet for FR, email etc.  Apps are sorely lacking and overpriced.  Someone mentioned amazon, I don't know abot daitly free apps but they do have more free games then NOOK color .  All of those free word games should be made available for eink nook.

I really like some of the apps in the new store, such as the Goodreads app, and I'm aware that this is just a first step as things begin to grow, but I am wondering why some of the apps are more expensive in the Nook store than they are in the Android Market. For example, Astraware's Sudoku is $4.99 in the Nook store, but it's only $1.98 at the time of this writing in the Android Market.

I'm assuming that it's Astraware, rather than Barnes & Noble, setting the pricing, but the developers should try to resist gouging Nook customers. Anyone can do a price comparison by checking the Android Market on the web. It isn't hard - they can do it right from their Nook Color with a wi-fi connection.

In repsonse to Bookhuffer, I have a NOOKCOLOR and although it's way cooler now with the update, I'm still jealous of the NOOK population. YOU GUYS HAVE FREE 3G! Now if they add that, I would be in total bliss. :smileyvery-happy:

I don't normally play the games but Angry Birds is good, fun, mindless entertainment. Sometimes that is just what I need. :-)
