This change — effective in mid-December — will allow customers to use physical gift cards and online gift certificates to purchase eBooks through our site, through nook, and through other devices using the B&N eReader software.
We'll have full details (including the specific launch date) in mid-December.
In the meantime, we want to say thanks for your suggestions and enthusiasm. We were able to accelerate this change due in part to the customer feedback.

Sweet! Good thing I ordered back on November 1st and didn't cancel my order. This was not a deal breaker for me, but it does make it so that we can get gift cards for the holidays to start stocking up our digital libraries. I figured it was only a matter of time before they implemented this feature, since Amazon and Apple both allow the same type of thing.

What a great surprise for me to see today. I preordered my Nook October 21 and was dismayed that gift cards could not be used for ebooks. This news thrills me no end as my family all know that gift cards from BN are #1 gifts for me anytime. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year & more to come. Thank you.
