But when the Bliss parents head out of town on an important trip, leaving the bakery—and the valuable recipe book—in their charming children’s hands, things get a little out of hand. The enterprising children take a stab at some of the ancient recipes, and soon find that a few mistakes can lead to a lot more trouble than just a fallen soufflé.

I recommend Christopher Holt's The Last Dogs, about three canine best friends who try—against all odds—to make their way back to their families when all of the people in the world seem to disappear. It's full of action and fun, and some of these dogs make me laugh out loud! If you like the Bliss family, you are sure to fall in love with Max, Rocky, and Gizmo.
