Aimed at young readers, but a fun read for anyone with a sweet tooth, Bliss follows the adventures of a family of bakers with a magical secret. The Bliss Cookery Booke is filled with special recipes that can, deliciously, do everything from cure sleepwalking to combat a flu epidemic. But when the Bliss parents head out of town on an important trip, leaving the bakery—and the valuable recipe book—in their charming children’s hands, things get a little out of hand. The enterprising children take a stab at some of the ancient recipes, and soon find that a few mistakes can lead to a lot more trouble than just a fallen soufflé.
Like the perfect dessert, you’ll hope this book never ends. Luckily, the sequel, A Dash of Magic, is available for preorder now.
Free Fridays Recommends
Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Kathryn recommends:

Since we may be getting freezing rain, sleet, and snow here later today, it should be a good evening to curl up and read. As far as what dessert to enjoy, a thick slice of homemade pound cake would be nice. You can break off a bite with your fingers and not even have to look up from the page!!!![]()

Thank you Jeremy, Spec, Butterfly and all the others who post free book selections. You make my Fridays! Even if I have to wait until the weekend, I always check them out. Love the variety, but I am partial to mysteries and romances and find plenty. Thanks again all. And mint chip ice cream with chocolate syrup makes a great reading snack.
