Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Shannon recommends:

Christmas romances have always been my favorite, and this year I read one I found particularly exceptional. Starting from Scratch is a novella written by Stacy Gail, about a man who lost his memory in an IED attack and the woman who lost him in the aftermath. It's a reunion romance with all the fun trappings of the holiday, along with an emotional punch that gripped me from beginning to end. When I have to put down my device and wipe my eyes to keep reading, I know an author has written a wonderful love story between two people I'm totally invested in.

I've read this week's book, it's really good.  A nice, light read for the holidays!  Thanks also to all the folks that post extra freebees each week.  Even when I don't like / or have already read the week's selection, I always seem to find something in your posts.  You make my Fridays that much more fun.

Merry Christmas to all!

I like to vary my reading every so often from the usual scifi and mystery/thriller and though I don't read too many romances, I find they are usually easy reads and sometimes a good 'feel-good' filler. Thanks for today's Free Fridays selections as I picked up both the app (to keep those brain muscles strong!) and the book. Thanks also to everyone who posts free great reads they've come across to share. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Not 700 pages long. There are a number of comments on today's Free Fridays e-book that it's 700 pages long. It's not really that long. Amazon shows it as 322 pages.

This particular publisher, Carina Press, formats their e-books in an unusual way. Instead of having a single set of formatting instructions for the whole e-book, they include detailed formatting instructions at the start of every chapter. These instructions to your NOOK (or NOOK app) get counted as pages, but since there's no text on them to display, you never see them.

Watch the page numbers at the start of a chapter. You'll see them take big jumps.

Thanks for today's selections!  The app looks like a lot of fun, as well as a challenge.  Hope everyone has a great weekend as we get closer to the holidays!
