Today’s Free Fridays selection, Jane Carver of Waar by Nathan Long, is a (tongue-in-cheek) homage to Burroughs’s epic swashbuckling space tales. In this updated extraterrestrial adventure, Long replaces the macho John Carter with an equally fearless heroine, Jane Carver, a hard-ridin', hard-lovin' biker chick and ex-Airborne Ranger. When Jane finds herself alone on a distant planet inhabited by all types of inhospitable aliens, it’s time to put her Ranger training to good use, and find a way home…fast!
If you love an old-fashioned SciFi adventure, with some quirky, 21st century updates, you’ll have a lot of fun following Jane’s high-octane encounters. More action awaits in the series’ next book, Jane Carver Swords of Waar, available now for pre-order.
Free Fridays Recommends
Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Nathan recommends:
NOOK owners: go to shop and search for “Nathan Long” to download his high-flying space adventure today.

Looks like an interesting take on the John Carter series. I've just been reading the originals, the first of which was published in 1912, 100 years ago. Well worth the read, just 99 cents for the first five books:
