Free Fridays: Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins
When Chastity first arrives back in town, she’s determined to shed her image (forged thanks to her four older brothers) as ‘just one of the guys.’ It’s time for her to find love, and the first step is to get the eligible local bachelors to see her as more than just the fifth O’Neill ‘brother.’
She quickly finds common ground with a handsome doctor, but when an old flame, Trevor, re-enters the picture, she can’t keep the long-buried feelings from resurfacing. Will Trevor finally fall for the ‘new’ Chastity or is she better off starting fresh with the dashing M.D.?
For more fun modern romance from Higgins, pre-order her upcoming jilted-bride story, The Best Man, now.
Free Fridays Recommends
Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Kristan recommends:
One of the best books I read this past year was a YA for older teens—My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. There were so many things I loved about the book—a completely relatable heroine in Samantha Reed, who's just on the cusp of starting to realize her own potential; a hero who's exactly the boy we all dreamed of as teenagers; and the thrill of first love between two realistic, lovely characters.
Samantha, who's starting her senior year of high school, feels a bit invisible as her mother embarks on a campaign to be reelected to the state senate...and starts dating her campaign manager. But Samantha's not a typical, angst-riddled teenager; she's mature, self-respecting and intelligent, as well as adorably dorky. I loved how the story unfolded and grew, taking on themes like acceptance, loyalty and responsibility in addition to the power of young love. A wonderful, uplifting and beautifully written book.

Once again, another great selection! Would love for B&N to feature some free selections for boys in the 12-15 age range. My son is an advid reader and at times, it is challenging to find appropriate choices for him to read. He and I both have Nook Tablets and absolutely LOVE them! Happy reading everyone!
