Today’s Free Fridays selection—Married in Haste by Cathy Maxwell—is a clever, fast-paced historical romance with a fun twist.

While beautiful young Tess has always had the pick of the litter when it comes to male suitors, a family misfortune is set to change her matrimonial prospects for the worse. Now that her brother has gambled away the family money, Tess must find a worthy husband before London society catches wind. Luckily a dashing war hero has just proposed, but can Tess accept in good conscience, knowing that she’s willfully deceiving her new beau?

Expect another steamy adventure in Maxwell’s  upcoming The Devil’s Heart—available for pre-order now.

Free Fridays Recommends

Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Cathy recommends:

I like charm and wit in my romance and Elizabeth Boyle's Love Letters from a Duke is brimming with those qualities. The story has ruses, masquerades, and misunderstandings enough to make any romance reader stand up and yell, "Bravo!"  Or take joy in whiling away a Friday evening with a glass of wine, a bubble bath, and the witty game of love between Felicity and her duke as they enjoy what can rightly be called "the devil's own tangle." Plus, as a bonus, a portion of the book's proceeds go to support Autism Speaks.

Jeff, you are always missed!  But hey, life happens. :robothappy:  For those that love sci-fi and fantasy and run promos all the time (especially around holidays), and I have gotten many free books from them.  Also for those that love free books in general, displays free books from kindle, nook, and kobo with new lists every day in just about every genre you can think of.  (Most Amazon books are also free for the nook too.)  While we all have nooks, a free book is a free book, and even though not having a kindle or kobo reader, you can still download their android/ipad apps or their pc/mac apps and get these free books too.  I could care less about companies, but reading is an amazing skill that a lot of people take for granted, why not absorb what's free out there?  Happy reading all!

(Thank you Butterfly13 for your post this week - I don't usually like much chicklit, but your scifi list was more than welcome this week.  I've been watching your lists since you started posting here and your hard work and research does not go unnoticed.  Thank you so much!)

More importnantly, thank you to all the authors and publishers that offer their books for free!
