“I liked this novel intensely. A gripping read.”

-Philippa Gregory, bestelling author of The Other Boleyn Girl

Forrester is the pen name of historian Dr. Ian Mortimer, and the author’s scholarship comes through in every richly-evocative scene. In 1563, Queen Elizabeth’s England is a dangerous place for Catholics, and although William Harley has risen within the royal ranks his life could be at stake if his allegiances are revealed.

When a friend convinces William to help him hide a heretical manuscript—one that holds secrets that could topple the crown and involves the Knights of the Round Table—the danger becomes extreme. The conspiracy surrounding the manuscript leads William down a dark path—to places that he never knew existed.

The next adventure in this spellbinding series, The Roots of Betrayal, is available now on NOOK.

Free Fridays Recommends

Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what James recommends:

@JfroJeff, Thanks so much for the children's books!  I'm constantly on the look out for something for my two year old.  Board books are EXPENSIVE so I love finding titles like this for him as well.  He's already got a three shelf bookcase filled at home, but these are great when we're out and about and I need to amuse him!

Looks like a great Freebie! Thanks too to all of the other free recommendations, especially those from JfroJeff. Always find some great selections from your recommendations.

Thank you all who take your time to find the books for "Free Fridays."  I've been getting free books for about 3 years now and I always look forward to Fridays! I've decided just to quit looking at the reviews and just see if the book sounds good to me and that way I don't get upset at the ungrateful people or people who like to give a complete book review which includes spoilers about the books. Nothing I say is going to change any of these people and it's just not worth it b/c life is too short! It doesn't seem to matter what books are chosen for Free Fridays there are always people who don't like the books that are chosen, even when the type of books they say they want are on the list.  You can't please everyone and some people you can't please at all, unfortunately!

I appreciate the time that all of you take to find the books for Fridays and are very grateful to you.  I buy books but I can't count how many books I've gotten from Free Fridays.  I'm retired and unfortunately ill and the illness keeps me from doing a lot of things. I love to read so thanks to all of you I have plenty of books to read!

Thanks to you all! Have a great weekend!

Thanks again, Jeremy, B&N, Spec (when you get here, I am not so patiently waiting for you.  I hope it's nice to know you are missed. ;-) ) , Jfro (a special thanks for covering genres that are usually slim pickings here.(You are missed but I understand if you don't have the time to be here weekly... but sure appreciate it when you are!  ) And Butterfly13 and all the other folks that post here and keep this blog interesting.

I just wish there was some way to hook up with some Nook friends here, everyone's profile is set to private.  I would love to share some of the stuff that I buy as well some of the freebies I get here from free fridays.  I would love to share my large library through the LendMe program.

Thanks all that share and all that care!

Twosandburs, I've had that happen only to discover I'd changed my wi-fi preference to airplane mode (to preserve batter life!), and once I took it off airplane mode everything updated perfectly.
