"Hard to think of it as a debut, better to think of it as the beginning of a massive new adventure.”

-The Daily Mirror (UK)

Television veteran Simon Toyne’s debut novel is an ambitious conspiracy thriller that Brad Meltzer and Dan Brown fans will devour. The whole world is watching when a cloistered monk in modern day Turkey plunges to his death in front of television cameras. The monk’s act of defiance sets off a frenzy to discover what secrets lie behind the ancient walls, and why he sacrificed his life to put an end to them.

When the monk is identified, American journalist Liv Adamsen is shocked to discover that he’s the brother she’d written off as dead long ago. Her reporter’s instincts send her to investigate the secretive world her brother inhabited, and soon she’s battling a group of deadly monks who will go to any extreme to protect their millennia-old secret.

The second book in Toyne’s critically-acclaimed trilogy, The Key, is available for NOOK now.

My favorites are mysteries.  Did anyone else notice that most of the mystery links posted today have women as the main character?  Interesting!  I like it!

@vachona Excellent description - book vortex! Yes, thank you for Free Fridays. I've expanded my list of authors to read because of FF. I really like the Hidden Object games as they while away the time when waiting at the airport.

Picked up a couple of promising things today. Thanks everyone for posting!

In response to Carlissa -

The Sherlock Holmes app that says "free" on the icon is a preview/demo version that is always free. It probably doesn't contain all the levels or features.

The one that does not say free on the icon is the one that normally costs money, but is free today only. This would be the one you'd want.

yep, back up to over 80 books on my Nook waiting to be enjoyed.  Not that I'm complaining.  Thanks to everyone that posts free books, you are the greatest!

So many books, so little time. Oh, to be rich and reading the day away.  :smileytongue:

Happy weekend to everyone and thank you BN and all you wonderful people for finding some great free reads once again!
