Fans of Dan Brown and Preston & Child will love Jeffrey Small's award-winning debut novel, with its unique blend of suspense, spirituality, and ancient history. Graduate student Grant Matthews journeys to the Himalayas in search of an ancient mystery hidden in a remote monastery, but at every step of his quest he confronts a conspiracy of zealots who will go to any lengths to protect the secret: a secret that could change Grant's life, if he survives.

Joining Grant on his quest is photojournalist Kristin Misaki and together they must confront an assassin at the Taj Mahal, a kidnapping in a sacred city, and a desperate chase through a cliffside monastery—all in the pursuit of a legend that could link together the great religious faiths of the world.

If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers that explore ancient cultures, you won’t want to miss The Breath of God, or Small’s newest book, The Jericho Deception—available now for preorder.

In my experience, kids just can’t resist the adorable cartoon adventurer Dora the Explorer. I can’t blame them—she’s cute as a button and an enviable problem solver. With  today’s irresistible free app, early readers learn important lessons about letter recognition and phonics, through a series of engaging activities. You’ll love watching your pint-sized reader tracing letters in the sky, as Dora’s friend Tico draws pictures and letters with his plane. Each activity reinforces different skills, keeping even the most energetic toddler engaged.

To keep them engaged even after they’ve mastered these new skills, explore the full range of Nickelodeon apps on NOOK here.

 Free Fridays Recommends

Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Jeffrey recommends:

Biography 3.8 Stars/9 Reviews (Most BN reviews do not provide any real detail. Plus, this book has 4.8 Stars/47 Reviews on Amazon so I think it's worth a try):

This is not a free book, although the story sounds good.  Thanks for today's free Friday selection.

I subscribe to a number of the various e-book newsletters (even though they're mostly for Kindle) and find that the daily freebies are often free on Nook as well, but ONLY FOR THAT DAY. By the time Free Fridays roll around, the books are often no longer free.

The Season's on Henry's Farm was one such book. I was lucky to snag it for free earlier in the week. Do not underestimate the value of checking these Kindle freebies out on the Nook as well, though it takes more work.

:smileyvery-happy: Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!  i found 5 books!!!  Happy Weekend fellow Nookers!

Thanks to all taking the time to search for freebies and list them for us lazy bums. Hah  Barnes & Noble is NOT trying to pull a fast one like some of you think. They have nothing to do with the nice folks on here who list these books for us. Quit complaining. :smileyhappy:

I look forward to Fridays to see what surprises all of our generous posters have found for us.

Thank you so much for your time and effort in finding these good reads.

Thanks again for all the awesome freebies! I'm sure it's been posted before, but could someone please post a list of valid/recommended free book blogs/e-mail newsletters/websites? Since I started with Free Fridays, I have rarely missed out on a book that I really wanted. But hey, free is free. If you REALLY want the book, wait for a sale or pony up the cash. That 50% off sale they had a few weeks back was AWESOME.

This week isn't my cuppa tea. I think I only got one book this week. But I really appreciate all the trouble every one goes through to get free books for us all to read. I know I generally walk away with more than I can read in 1 week :smileyhappy:

by LillieAna on ‎04-19-2013 07:32 PM

Thanks! This weeks selection is right up my alley. I shared it with some Nook friends. It is not free for Kindle so I won't share with my kindle friends :smileyhappy:

I just started reading last week's free Friday selection  Angel's Ink and I'm enjoying it. I also just finished Black Hole Sun, from a few weeks ago that is not my usual genre but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it.

by oheather on ‎04-19-2013 08:11 PM

Didn't snag this week's selection but I did score quite a few new titles thanks to the awesomeness of everyone who takes the time to post additional freebies!  Thanks!

I  have a Nook color and although it's not my first time here, it is my first time posting. I can not thank you all enough for all the Free eBooks every week :smileyhappy: So nice to get away from the "moan & groan reviews" to a place where the people are appreciative and friendly.

I found  The Season's on Henry's Farm  for free at Amazon (for Kindle) and at  , I had to download "Kindle for PC" through Amazon but got that for free also!

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Thanks for all the free books today! I look forward to Friday's so I can look for all the good books that are posted.

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how you follow butterfly on Pinterest.  I went to Pinterest and tried to figure out how to follow her but for some reason I can't figure it out.  Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Also, while downloading some of today's books I found 2 books that people who like romance might like also.  The first one is:

The Job Offer

and the second one is:

 P.S. I'm Waiting...

Just thought I'd add these in case anyone is interested!

Have a great weekend to everyone!

Hey everybody happy ff, the featured title looks good added it to my "to be read" list.  Thanks Jeremy, Spec, Butterflly13, Ereaderperks, & all of you that find and post free reads here each week. Have a great reading weekend all.
