-Publishers Weekly

Clinical psychologist Tony Hill has had a good run. He and detective Carol Jordan have put away scores of dangerous criminals at a rate that colleagues envy. But there is one serial killer who has shaped and defined their careers, and whose evil surpasses all others: Jacko Vance, ex-celebrity and sociopath whose brilliance and utter lack of remorse have never left Tony’s mind in the ten years since his imprisonment. Now Jacko has escaped from prison—even more twisted and cunning than before, and focused on wreaking revenge on Tony and Carol for his years spent in prison.

Tony and Carol have spent their careers protecting others, but now they’ll need all of the resources at their disposal to keep themselves out of harm’s way.

Free Fridays Recommends

Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Val recommends:

I think, if I never downloaded another Free Friday book, I'd still have enough to read for a year. As long as the power doesn't go out! Ha!

Free Fridays has definitely introduced me to authors that I haven't heard of before, and I have sometimes bought additional books as part of a series, from just reading the first one that was offered as a freebie.

Thanks to all the people that scout around for interesting finds. Not everything is my cup of tea (frankly, I need never read another vampire book), but it's a good way to get a taste of other things.

I agree with @pioneercynthia that this column has introduced me to authors I wouldn't otherwise try. And while I have no interest in religious fiction and limited interest in vampires, there is still enough on all the lists provided so I always download at least one new book a week. We share this post weekly on Yammer at my workplace so it gets even more circulation than what is seen here.

Thanks to Jeremy, Spec, Butterfly13, jeff, & Jerseygalatheart for the hard work that keeps the rest of us happily reading.

Thank you B&N for the Free Nook Fridays! Also, thanks to all the people who took the time to share the links to other free books! I love reading all the different authors who I most likely would not have chosen to read if they had not been previewed as a free book.

Thank you to all.  I usually do not post, but I have to send out kuddos to all of you for the free picks.  I have read so many genres that I would usually not look at, but thanks to you I have expanded my reading selections. :smileyhappy:  I work late shifts 8pm-8am and staying awake can sometimes be difficult...thanks to all of you and my nook...staying awake is not hard as I enjoy all the books I have downloaded. Plus I have bought the next book from many of the series you have introduced.  Thank you so much!!!!!
