Today’s Free Fridays selection, The Murder at the Vicarage, was Christie’s first novel featuring the widowed amateur sleuth, giving Marple a chance to show off her sharp wit and incomparable deductive skills. When a Colonel is found murdered , and Miss Marple starts her snooping, she soon finds that narrowing down a list of suspects is more difficult when the victim is one of the town’s most despised residents.

Fans of Christie’s work (and with over 1 billion books sold worldwide, there are many out there), will love revisiting this treasured classic, as will readers who are just now discovering the magic of this beloved writer.

Free Fridays Recommends

"If Agatha Christie were still alive, she’d probably recommend Bleak House by Charles Dickens, which was one of her favorite novels. The character of Inspector Bucket, who’s considered one of the first detectives in English literature, may have inspired her to create her famous detective Hercule Poirot. She also wrote a screenplay adaptation of Bleak House for MGM, which was never produced."

I've been looking back over past Nook Blogs to see what I may have missed since I got my Nook.  Well, this is it.  I missed Agatha Christie.
