John Crowley was one of the first serious novelists I
ever worked with as a publisher. This novel is so filled with great sentences that I had several of them printed and mounted on foam-core in my office for years. Reminiscent of One Hundred Years of Solitude but distinctly American, Little, Big is at once magical and very real, fanciful and intensely human. The scope of the story is epic, but at the same time, you can go to virtually any page in the novel and find something to smile about.
