Free Fridays

Categories: Free Fridays

During her prolific career, Heyer published 56 books, including today’s Free Fridays selection: Footsteps in the Dark. While Heyer is also well known for writing romance and historical fiction, Footsteps is one of her most beloved mysteries—a tale of murder in an old estate that has long been rumored to be haunted. A group of siblings who at first brush off the paranormal implications, are soon thrust into a gruesome scene that has them frightened for their lives!

We’ll have a special announcement for you later this month, in honor of Heyer’s 109th birth anniversary, so stay tuned!

Thank you so much!  I started reading Georgette Heyer about a year ago and love her books--haven't read this one yet and am looking forward to it.

Thank you for the book.

I thought you'd mention George Orwell, Charles Dickens, H.G. Wells, Shakespeare...but no.

Stephen King.

...ok...

I've never read anything by Georgette Heyer, but I love a good mystery, especially from this "golden age" of mystery writing. Thanks for the free download; can't wait to dig into it!

Georgette Heyer is one of my alltime favorite authors.  There are few I have encountered who have a brighter, wittier style.  She has set a standard in literature that has yet to be bettered.  To have her as a Free Friday author is a rare treat, a rare treat indeed.

How long do the Free Fridays selections remain free?  Would a months old Free Fridays selection still be free to download?  Thanks.

Hi WTHJ,

In most cases, the Free Fridays selection is free through the weekend, and in some cases it is free longer than that. The free period varies based on the publisher's specifications.

Best,

Jeremy

I love this author!! Have for years and years!! I have all her books in paperback (or at least I did) and when they began to come out for nook I bought them for my reader.  I constantly reread them - her romances and mysteries with her special brand of humor - like sitting down for a chat with an old friend.

Can't wait for the special announcement. I am so excited to see others appreciating her.

Couldn't take advantage of the Free Fridays because I already have this one - quite one of my favorite of her mysteries.

Enyoying this book! I just started reading it and it took me awhile to get used to some of the expressions and word usage. The conversations are pretty funny. I can't wait to find out what it really going on with the ghost.
