Free Fridays

Categories: Free Fridays

“This work is rousing, swashbuckling fun and proof that a good writer can make history not only interesting but an exhilarating romp.”

- Library Journal

This series debut kicks off with adventurer Ethan Gage winning an Egyptian medallion in a Parisian card game, setting an international chase in motion. Once the medallion is in Gage’s possession, and he’s framed for murder by a group trying to get their hands on the mysterious artifact, he quickly realizes that it’s not just a commonplace keepsake.

In lieu of jail, Gage is offered a chance to join Napoleon’s forces as they seek to overtake Egypt. Believing that his medallion may hold the key to ancient Egyptian secrets, our hero jumps at the chance to follow wherever the adventure may lead. Could the treasure reveal the truth behind the creation of the pyramids? And will Gage uncover the secrets before getting swept up in Napoleon’s ill-fated campaign? This riveting historical thriller will keep you guessing until the last page.

Ethan Gage’s adventures continue in three more critically-acclaimed novels by William Dietrich.

$8 for this week's Friday freebie - is 11pm too late?  Did I miss it?

Yes, it's really a shame that Friday is for a particular time zone. I've looked and looked for the Free Fridays book on my Color Nook and just haven't found it. I've missed the last half dozen free fridays offerings because I can't get to the computer until seven or eight at night on Friday, and B&N doesn't consider that Friday any more. In fact, most of the postings here are labeled "yesterday"and it'll be friday here in California for a few more hours. Maybe I should look on Thursday? Does anyone know the hours for which Free Fridays is valid?

So since 6 pm I have been trying to figure out why this weeks free book did not show up on my Shop Home page AND why when I select it it shows a price of $7.99? I thought we had all day to download?

What happened?  Is it only free on Friday on the east coast??

by Gigi_J on ‎12-17-2011 01:24 AM

Book sounds fabulous but my Nook and B&N.com both show the book for $7.99. Anyone else having this issue? I hesitate to download if I'm going to be charged full price. Sort of defeats the purpose of Free Book Friday.

Very disappointed that the book didn't remain free all day Friday. It really looks like it will be a great read.

I agree... it is too early to end free Friday. But if the valid time has changed, it is a recent change because I have gotten free Friday books in the past when it was late in the day .. wesr coast time. This one looked so interesting that I purchased it anyway, and if they reimburse me (as I feel they should), that will be a bonus.

I am on Pacific Standard time, so I am at a disadvantage most of the time for special web deals. But I am really disapointed today for not loging on time &be ableto download today's FREE book.  It sounds very interesting.  Maybe if enough people complaint we may be ablr to convince the powers that be, to leave the FREE friday nook book the WHOLE day, (taking into consideration the people in my time zone).

Where is this week's free Friday selection? I coildn't get it early this morning and again it's not showing up. Have we hit a deadend?
by RFHOWL on ‎12-17-2011 01:59 AM

Yes, I got charged $7.99 too. I'm in San Francisco. Is there a new cut-off time for free Fridays? I've got a Nook ST and a Nook Tablet. So I guess I'm a qualified Nook owner.

I was really interested in this book but it is definitely not free for me.  What happened to California?  Did we drop off the end of the country?  What happens if you live in Alaska, or Hawaii?  Are you out of luck because you're not in Eastern Standard Time?  Is it set up so you can only download during a certain window?  What if you have to work and miss that window?  This sucks Barnes & Noble - not everybody runs on Eastern Time!

Hi:

I could not get the book for free either, and I'm in NJ.  Seems those romance novels are free for ages, finally something good, and you have to be faster than lightning to get it.  It's a shame too, I was looking for a new series to read and this would have been a great wa to start.
