"I defy anyone who doesn't fall in love with [Pillow Talk]."
-Glamour
This charming story of love lost and regained follows the unlikely path of two weary people who thought that their chance at love had passed them by. As teenagers, Arlo and Petra knew they had chemistry, but eventually went their separate ways. Fast-forward 17 years, and Arlo’s a reformed rocker who’s chosen the quiet life, and Petra’s a talented jeweler with a loser boyfriend. Each is struggling to put a troubled past behind them. By chance they meet again and are confronted with a choice: fall back on all their old excuses, or throw caution to the wind and give true love one more chance.

Each week, we ask our featured author to recommend a book or author that you may want to check out. Since authors are such passionate readers themselves, we thought you might like to find out what they love to read, too! Here’s what Freya recommends:
NOOK owners: go to shop and search for “Freya North” to download her irresistible books.

Thank you all for the free books, such great choices, I love reading something that I normally wouldn't buy, only to find I love the author and then I go and buy all of their other books!
Spec, your list is always worth waiting for, a special thanks to you!

@happythoughts: I assure you that the price showed as free on both the shop screen and the confirmation box; however, I was charged for them and B&N said it was because I had not refreshed my Nook. The Nook rep told me when I bought my Nook NOT to refresh too often, to just put it in sleep mode. So that's why I hadn't refreshed it. If I made a mistake, I promise you that I would be glad to own it. ![]()

ditto to what ginalatte just said!
The Book of the King sounds like a keeper -- I'll show it to my daughter (since she paid for more than 1/2 of the Nook Tablet, technically it is "hers" and I don't download without checking first, even if it's free) and see what she thinks... Thanks, spec, for including kids' titles, and Jeff for the YA selections in both of your lists!

Once again, another worthless read on Free Friday's offering. When will B&N's Nook offer something interesting and of substance? We're not all airhead readers.

I'm with Carma-Az. I've downloaded these, and while I guess I don't think they're "worthless," I do agree that's they're usually the sort of thing one tends to find at Walmart. Is it too much to ask that we get a real piece of literature? Even a classic?

Most of the classics are already free for the downloading. Try http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/
I, for one, am willing to wade through the free books because I have found some real gems hidden there. I am always on the look out for new authors as my "old" favorites are either dead or can't write fast enough to keep up with my reading habits. Thank you Barnes & Noble for feeding my obsession!

@golfinggirl: I had something like that happen to me once, when the Nook classic was still pretty new. The book was free when I ordered it, but they only processed the order a few hours later, when it was no longer free.
After lots of calls to customer support, talking with supervisors, and getting Jeremy's predecessor here involved, they send me $10 gift cards...
If the confirmation dialog says that it is free, it should be free. That confirmation dialog needs to get the current data from B&N. If it doesn't, they should fire their programmers...

What a disappointment! Could have offered something better for Mother's Day, not everyone is into reading mushy tripe. How about a book with some meat on its bones for a change? Sure there are some older novels that could be offered for free.

@GolfingGirl - Well, I'm not so sure that the problem is your Nook. I ordered four of the books on the list from my computer and was charged for three of them! I followed the links provided and the book showed FREE as a Nook book, but you gotta watch that tiny 4 pt font for the confirmation (which I confess, I tend to ignore anymore). I can't say for certain that the confirmation ALWAYS alerted me that I was going to be charged $9.99, because I tend to hit that button automatically, but I did catch it (a bit too late) as I was hitting the confirmation button for "Wildflowers of Terezin."
I called Customer Support the next morning and explained what happened (I also took screen shots of what I saw, where the Nook book was represented as Free). I did not have to do much explaining....I think they were familiar with the problem. They offered to process a refund on my credit card.

I have found many of the classics for free just by doing a simple search of Free Classics for the Nook.
I also want to thank each and every one of you for the free books that you post each week. I have found some wonderful books that I never would have read otherwise, so thank you for taking the time and effort to share with us.

Allie01:
If you go to "Shop" on your Nook and go to "Picked Just for You" under Popular Lists, it usually shows up on the top panel, maybe the 2nd or 3rd frame. It was there yesterday. I just checked and it was gone, so I guess they only leave it up on Fridays. Luckily you can search and still get it for free, though I agree the way you are taking about is very convenient. Hopefully this helps and you will be able to find next Friday's this way.
