We're making eBooks even more fun!

 

Bring your NOOK or other device with our free BN eReader software into your local Barnes & Noble store and you'll receive a special access code, good for that week’s free eBook.

 

Simply show a bookseller one of the following to participate: the award-winning NOOK and iRex DR800SG, as well as the BN eReader on an iPad™, iPhone®, iPod touch®, BlackBerry®, HTC HD2™, PC or Mac®. The bookseller at the NOOK display in any Barnes & Noble store will gladly help you locate and download the relevant free software to your computing or mobile device. To redeem the free eBook, use the special weekly access code at www.bn.com/redeem and download the title to your Barnes & Noble digital library. Each access code can be redeemed through July 1, 2010

 

We're kicking off the promotion by giving away Alexander McCall Smith's "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" which will be followed -- not in this particular order -- by Jim Butcher's "Storm Front", Chris Anderson's "The Long Tail", Elizabeth Berg's "Home Safe", and Lee Child's "One Shot".

This is a great  promotion, but not convenient for those of us who do not live close to a B&N store.  I live 70 miles from the nearest store and as much as I would love to go to try out the "in store read" feature and redeem my other coupons it is not something I can do once a week.  I would love to be able to get these free books that you are offering.  I am on a limited income and cannot drive to town once a week to get the access code.  Is there another way to get the code?

Really wish I lived closer to my local B&N...  Unfortunately, between the cost of gas and a ferry ticket, these books are far from free for me.

I also live 70+ miles from a B&N store and cannot take advantage of this offer.  I do, however, enjoy the Free Fridays and download most of those books to my nook.

WOW! This would be terrific if I lived close to a BN store. 

Free Fridays are great but come on - there is no way everyone will be close to a store.

Yeah I live about an hour and a half away from the nearest B&N . . .could you please share the code with all . . .Please :smileyhappy:

This is obviously a promotion to get people to come into their stores.  I don't see anything wrong with that motivation, so how would they do that and give out the access codes online to everybody at the same time?  Just sayin...

Complain, complain, complain. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Not every offer is going to be specifically tailored to every single customer. Geez people, never happy about anything. So you can't take advantage of this offer, I am sure there will be one that you will be able to take advantage of. Relax, take some deep breathes, hug a dog.............

I don't think I understand this - SO now I have to go to Barnes to get my free book on Fridays.

 

I can not  even fathom living that far from my local barnes.  When we bought our home, my quest were as follows to the realtor - the schools have to be great, the commute into NYC has to be under 1 hour, the local library has to be within walking distance and my local bookstore/s have to be within a 10 minute drive:smileyhappy: 

 

BUT I totally agree that the people that live far from Barnes are getting the raw end and should have something for them to compensate...

Paul - I am sorry but I am not following.. SO I take my nook with me to Barnes on Friday (can it only be a Friday) and then I tell the people on the counter to give me the free book that is seperate from the normal free book..

 

I am asking only because the people in the "nook" counter very rarely know what is happening.. The day that I went to download the Joe Hill poem (it was my first time taking advantage of the in store features) and it was something out of Abbott and Costello.. I ended up never reading my poem:smileysad:

This promotion is entirely different from Free Fridays. You can go into the store any day of the week for this giveaway and show them your NOOK. You'll be given an access code that you can redeem for a free eBook.

@ Sojaded.  No - the free Friday is an entirely separate promotion which is accessible outside of the stores as well.  The new instore promotion is for different books, so you can get 2 free books a week if you get the free Friday one at home and the other one in the stores.  The free book on Friday, May 14th, was "Executive Privilege" by Phillip Margolin.  It is still available free to download for anyone with a nook.  Just search for executive privilege on your shop screen.  The new one today, "The No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith is available with the access code you get from going to the store this week.
