We're making eBooks even more fun!

Bring your NOOK or other device with our free BN eReader software into your local Barnes & Noble store and you'll receive a special access code, good for that week’s free eBook.

Simply show a bookseller one of the following to participate: the award-winning NOOK and iRex DR800SG, as well as the BN eReader on an iPad™, iPhone®, iPod touch®, BlackBerry®, HTC HD2™, PC or Mac®. The bookseller at the NOOK display in any Barnes & Noble store will gladly help you locate and download the relevant free software to your computing or mobile device. To redeem the free eBook, use the special weekly access code at www.bn.com/redeem and download the title to your Barnes & Noble digital library. Each access code can be redeemed through July 1, 2010

We're kicking off the promotion by giving away Alexander McCall Smith's "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" which will be followed -- not in this particular order -- by Jim Butcher's "Storm Front", Chris Anderson's "The Long Tail", Elizabeth Berg's "Home Safe", and Lee Child's "One Shot".

Happy eReading!

I think the whole idea is to get you into the store so you may buy something. Why else not send the code email to Nook registered Nook owners instead of having us drive to the nearest store for a piece of paper with a code on it. Not very environmentally friendly!

Hi,  I just went to B&N and got my voucher (as I have for the past 2 weeks) When I put it in, nothing happened,  Tried it again and the book downloaded to my Nook but I was charged the $6.39 purchase price.  How can I resolve this?

by jkaustin02 on ‎06-03-2010 11:47 AM

@AuntieMame...I'd email B&N right now and let them know. I don't know if all the codes are different for each person or are all the same. I'm going in today and will ask the person handing them out. That seems like a technical error to me, but I haven't heard it happening to anyone else. I'm sure they'll take care of it for you.

I don't live that far from a B&N store, but there's not a comfy place to sit there. Just the cafe. If there was a comfy sitting area where I could sit with my coffee, I'd be more than happy to spend a couple hours on a Sunday afternoon with my nook. :smileyhappy:

While I definitely feel bad for those who live too far away to take advantage of this promotion. (been there) I must say it is still a pretty good deal to be able to find a book and have the ability to read it within seconds... what would those people do if they didn't have a nook? You would still have to drive that far to get  a book... or order it online and wait for it. I am going to bn today and i will see if i can get the code and post it in here.

Sigh.. Still on call then going out of state for a conference where I won't return until Monday.

Any kind sole willing to send me week 4's code please do so via private post on BN to GuzziAlfa.

Mille Grazie,

PaisleySkye... there used to be chairs and sofas all over B&N, not sure why they took them out....all we have now are 3 hard-backed wooden chairs by the magazine section, which are not conducive to sitting and reading.

Just got back from B&N getting week 5's free book and the lady at the nook kiosk told me that there will be ANOTHER 5 weeks of free ebooks! Any truth to this? Does anyone know?

by RavenclawReader on ‎06-15-2010 06:41 PM

Thank you Barnes and Noble!!! :smileyhappy:

I just found out about the promotion today and went to my locat BN store.

The person at the nook counter was very helpful and even gave me all 5 weeks of vouchers, since I was on the last week.

My question to those who have downloaded them:

I know the title of week 1, 4, and 5.

Can anyone tell me which book is week 3, and 2.

One of the listed titles is not my cup of tea, and I'd rather not download it to my library.

Thanks!!!

Barnes & Noble,

Thank you for the five books.

I looked forward to going into Barnes & Noble for my books and talking to the staff about my books and my nook.

Every time I go in there is someone looking and asking questions at the nook kiosk.

And yes, I did buy something every time I went in.

So this free book campaign was a complete success for my part.

Hope Barnes & Noble decides to promote five more this fall.

Please, please. Is there any way we can tell a free book is going to be only a preview? If a free book is not the entire book, I would rather not waste my time on a 7, 12, 16  page preview.. I want a free book- the entire thing.. Please help us out.. Free book -give us the free book. Thanks,

Darn! Missed the last one! Such a busy weekend that I forgot to go. Anyone have the code for Chris Anderson's "The Long Tail"?  Please PM me, hah424.

I would love any extra codes you can share!  I just bought a nook today and they said they didn't have any codes and the promo was over =(.

I would LOVE weeks 1 and 3 especially but would take any handouts!

Mahalo in advance for your kindness!

If you cannot go into a store (I live 300 miles from one) you can call and they will give you a code so you can also get the book free. Access codes are individual, so they cannot be shared!

The closest B&N is an hour's drive for me, but there are some Starbucks in my town. How about extend the B&N/Starbucks partnership to make "more-in-store" perks available at Starbucks? Or better yet, start a chain of small B&N stores with coffee and limited inventory, and "more-in-store" of course.
