While everyone else is fixated on the meteorological prognostications of Punxsutawney Phil and his rodent brethren today, my memory strays to the unparalleled Bill Murray film Groundhog Day. The always-reliable Murray is at his cantankerously charming best playing a local weatherman who wakes up day after day, doomed to relive the day before. In his case, tomorrow never comes.
Last year, our blogger Paul Goat Allen introduced a fun list of Groundhog Day reads—books that you’ve read many times, and still can’t get enough of. A devoted science fiction and fantasy reader, Paul’s entries unsurprisingly included Dune and Treason, among others. This year, I’m adding my own addition, and I hope you’ll share some Groundhog Day books of your own.
My pick:

One book I always go back too is "Drink of Me" by Jacquelyn Frank. Whenever I need a good pick me up I always read it. Another one is the classic "Gone with the Wind".

The book I have re-read the most is Marion Zimmer-Bradley The Mists of Avalon. I've read the entire series, but I re-read this one the most.

Eve's Diary by Mark Twain (I don't really read anything over and over, but have read this a few times because it's a fast read, and so cute!)

I love the story and premis behind "A Dog's Purpose" by W. Bruce Cameron. Who can resist a love story from a dog's point of view? Great read many times over! ![]()

I think I have read the Harry Potter books more than any other book. Still love them, still cry every time! To Kill a Mockingbird is also high on the list. Where the Sidewalk Ends & A Light in the Attic are also high on the list but I can't say that I read those cover to cover more throw them open and read a few poems.

All of James Herriot's books. Some of them are falling apart from being read so many times. The "farting boxer" story still makes me laugh out loud.

Pride and Prejudice and the Chronicles of Barsetshire. I also listen to any Harry Potter novel on long road trips.
